Should they fall out of the rankings?

They played a close game and lost to a team that was ranked well ahead of them.

I dont care about Illini basketball in the least, the loss just highlights one of the dumbest parts of the rankings- a lower ranked team playing well and losing drops them in the polls. Why? They were expected to be the worse team based on those very rankings.
Unless the lower ranked team is blown out, why should they drop?

The rankings suck overall. Most voters won't drop a team if it wins, even if the wins aren't convincing, or it becomes obvious a lower-ranked team is better.
