There’s already 3-4 visitors confirmed for the weekend…

Campbell’s retention at this point has been really successful, IMO.

Still hoping for Campbell, Hayes, Woseley, and Joseph.

A lot more than that.

2 on campus now. 1 coming in this evening.

At least 15 coming in this weekend, and possibly/probably more.

At this point, the info is Premium, so I can't list all the names. The guys currently on campus have already been identified, so it's not an issue naming them (Rocco Becht, QB and Benjamin Brahmer, TE -- predictions already entered by @PeteNakos of On3 that they'll end up at PSU).

Edit: Noting that I changed the number scheduled to come in this weekend from "6, and possibly/probably more" to "15, and possibly/probably more."

We’re up to 27 in the portal with probably 9-10 guys from the 2-deep that hurt whether you goons wanna accept it or not. Go Penn State!!!

Are you serious or just joking? Losing guys from a roster that went 3-6 in the B1G is a good thing. You can’t possibly be upset about this. Most of those guys departing need to be replaced and some were probably encouraged to leave.

Grunk going to VT seems so short sighted.

I understand familiarity. But First time playcaller and a staff that has a horrible record of developing QBs. Did he not just see what they did to Allar?

And VT is in full rebuild mode for the next 2-3 years. He’s going to have no talent around and if Franklin’s past is of note, the OL will stink too.
And Franklin prefers mobile quarterbacks. I was certain Pribula was going there.

We'll see. Mizzou ran him off to chase Ole Miss's backup. I doubt many people who watched him play last year are chasing him. Maybe he goes to VA Tech to play his old role under us.

Looks like Grunk's progression is downward. Shame.

I just breezed through the last nine pages or so of this thread. Maybe reality is settling in to my brain, but this is the most depressing thread I think I’ve ever read.

Makes a lot of sense, on multiple levels.

FL needs some help. And Traut has a relationship with these guys. Shanahan was at ?? (Texas I think), and portalled to PSU on the recommendation of his former coach (who was Traut's former coach, or something like that). Boyer was a prospect that Traut recognized when he wasn't rated all that highly. Traut felt Boyer would take a few years to develop, and has worked hard to coach him up over the past few years.
Shanahan was at Texas A&M

What was Indiana's record two years ago?

Did you check the record of transfer players at their last stop? They are not coming from contenders.

Grunk would be making a big mistake going to VT. He'll won't be properly utilized. CJF is not going to change how he thinks QBs should be utilized.
and yet CJF won more games over the last ten years than all but 8 or 9 other coaches- strange

Where in my post did I say I wanted Grunk?

You’ve been riding my tail about my Grunk comments for weeks. And weirdly bring it up again now? After I was proven right and you were wrong? Our staff chose Becht. In fact, they’re bringing in both their QBs for visits. And let Grunk walk. Grunk played well against bad opponents and it’s been said for weeks that he wouldn’t be the guy. It’s very obvious you have no idea what you’re talking about.

As a fan of PSU, speaking about our former QB, I hoped he’d pick a better situation than the qb-killers themselves Franklin/Obrien.
Grunk played well against Indiana so much so that Cignetti said after the game it looks like Penn State found its future QB. Becht is 26-13 as a starter and never played against a defense as good as the OSU and Indiana defenses Grunk played against in his second and third career starts. The ESPN analyst said it best during half time of the Navy/Cincy game today: if you are looking for production without a high ceiling you could get Becht in the portal. His career completion percentage is around 60% while playing in the Big 12 not the Big Ten. Did you notice that Oregon shut out Texas Tech in the playoffs yesterday? That would be the same Texas Tech that was averaging around 40 points per game and handled Iowa State both times they played this year.

Grunk is gone and Becht is our starting QB. The decision has been made.

The argument with Becht is the same as with Campbell. He’s been in the system and has done more with less around him.
