What percent care about academic credits? I guess less than 20%Wouldn't that play havoc with the transfer of academic credits?

Didn't OSU win it last year?
They may not care, but they do have to get through university acceptance and schedule classes prior to the start of the semester, otherwise they cant be in school and be training and practiciing with the team. What percent care about academic credits? I guess less than 20%
Last states held at Rec Hall. I still have the program.George Atiyeh also pinned Leo Wisniewski of Fox Chapel in the 1977 PIAA final. Leo came back to win the state title in 1978.
Schools have to just be rubber stamping these now more than ever. No way in hell all these players that are hitting portal for 2nd, 3rd time, etc. are truly academically eligible to play. They may not care, but they do have to get through university acceptance and schedule classes prior to the start of the semester, otherwise they cant be in school and be training and practiciing with the team.
If universities turn them down, they’ll just get the courts involved and the courts seem to always side in favor of the athlete.Schools have to just be rubber stamping these now more than ever. This makes complete sense. Given that you are paying players why would you pay top dollar to high schoolers for potential when you can pay college players who have demonstrated production at the college level. This does NOT mean you do not recruit high school players but the compensation structure should reflect 1, that you may lose your investment in development (they can leave) and 2. They will likely not play for a while unless they are at a certain position or are athletic freaks.
In the lyrics of Olivia Newton John..."Let's Get Physical....Physical..."Campbell likes massive OL players

So many of these kids do much of their course work online, of which much of it is transferable, especially gen ed courses.Schools have to just be rubber stamping these now more than ever. I guess we'll be blowing people out next year. We’re looking very cycloney.

So the athletic department had a $40M deficit. How much of that was attributable to the football team?Another who doesn't understand the definition of "value proposition". Didn't duhO$U generate a -$40 million deficit in their Athletic Department last year (FY2024)? Hasn't their Pro-fligate spending continued? Didn't they exit the Pro Minor-league Football Playoffs after their first game this year - losing by 10 going away to a team they were favored to beat by at least 9.5 Points (i.e., 10 points) at game time?
Acceptance into an academic institution is not court dependent. There is nothing a court can say if academic requirements are x, students are required to meet x, and an athlete does not meet x. Universities cannot legally be made to take a student-athlete (even if student is in word only). If universities turn them down, they’ll just get the courts involved and the courts seem to always side in favor of the athlete.
Mike ReidCurly Culp (NCAA champion), Jim Nance (2x NCAA champion), Stephen Neal (2x NCAA champion and World Champion), and Ray Lewis. Penn Staters Charley Getty and Steve Sefter were both 2x All-American wrestlers . There are many more. I just found this - https://nwhof.org/news/top-10-wrestlers-who-played-in-nfl
Correct me if I’m wrong but doesn’t that equate to 25 receptions and a little over 300 yards per season? Someone said he reminds him of Jesse James so I guess he isn’t a kick *** blocker. How many Iowa State games have you watched to form your conclusion that he is better than Reynolds? I hope he is great but can we pump the brakes until he actually plays a single down at Penn State?Trade up from Reynolds
Yeah Coleman, Grunk; etc suck and all those Iowa State transfers are future All Big Ten and All Americans. Geez.Amazing what a fresh set of eyes has on players and production. He is cleaning house and it needed to be done. BGJ can take back all of the PSU cast offs
Well, it didn't have to cost anything except some reasonable revenue share money.
But Campbell was - as seems obvious - married to bringing in "his" mid-B12 rental QB instead.
A very Pittsburgh Pirates-ish trade, IMO.
What flavor Kool Aid are you drinking these days. As I have said before, I like the Campbell hire and hope he wins those Big Ten and National Championships Kraft promised but call me old fashioned in that I prefer to see how Penn State does when they start playing games this September. I am particularly interested in seeing how Becht does at Penn State vs how Grunk does at wherever he goes.Campbell is doing an exceptional job. While some are agonizing about losing individual players, this is to lose the forest for the trees. Campbell is focused on cultivating a new culture and to do this requires individuals who are familiar with his system and, more importantly, his cultural demands. People are hand-wringing about Grunk, but Campbell is likely going to lean on Becht to set the tone in the locker room. The kid is tough as nails and I am sure he will have no reservation having a come to Jesus discussion with any pouters.
That hurts
Yeah this sounds like a definite $$ situation.Sounds like this wasn’t Amare’s choice. Wonder who we have coming in?
It was Amare's choice. He and the GM disagreed on his compensation. This happens. Hopefully he makes what he thinks he deserves.Sounds like this wasn’t Amare’s choice. Wonder who we have coming in?
This means Amare couldn’t name his price. Fans AND players are going to have to get used to moneyball—it’s not about how much talent or experience you have, it’s simply a cost/value analysis. We’re lucky we now have a GM who understands that instead of what Franklin was doing. It was Amare's choice. He and the GM disagreed on his compensation. This happens. yeah, the longer this went without Campbell announcing for the portal, the more I thought he would return. I presume they were working hard to keep him, but for whatever reason, the two sides couldn't find an agreement.
So much for that “unlimited NIL funding” that some here want to claim PSU has.
