Tough to recruit RBs based on rumor I would assume.
NW and UCLA piggy backed guys in with them . Maybe we will get lucky here too.
From 10 hrs ago-
Campbell has not yet hired a full-time running backs coach. It’s the only position coach spot he has to fill for his first staff to be complete. At this point in time, the rest of the staff on offense includes coordinator and tight ends coach Taylor Mouser, receivers coach Noah Pauley, and offensive line coach Ryan Clanton---reported by Greg Pickel

Did the kid from NW commit? Last I saw he was in College Station.

Unlimited checkbook? There is no record of how much money Cuban has given to IU athletics and I highly doubt it is "unlimited". I'm pretty sure IU has spent a lot less than other top 10 type programs in the past few years. Cignetti couldn't have been this successful without ample funding, but you are kidding yourself if you don't think he is by far the main reason for their success.
Cuban has told Cignetti to "go win" and he's covering it. People act like Mendoza and everyone else just showed up for free. Cignetti is picky about who fits what he demands but they've been spending a ton of money. Even more for next year.

You really need to get over yourself with these incessant, convoluted juxtapositions of (a) people’s well founded opinions of Franklin’s shortcomings with (b) the short term reality that Campbell was left a depleted roster and likely won’t win a national title in 2026.
A) apparently Franklin’s shortcomings weren’t quite as widespread as some on here think since so many are upset at losing many of his guys. B) I don’t think anyone one here ever said PSU would win a national title in 2026…I certainly didn’t.

There are more than a few multimillionaire giving to the football program now. I know 2 of them. This was not the case 36 months ago. Also, I've heard the Cook family (richest family in Indiana) is giving also. IU football has more than enough money to compete with the top teams in the Big10.

There’s no reason why PSU shouldn’t be able to be in the same position.

Can you provide a source for the first statement?

I am not surprised. He was furious about not getting any looks this season on the field. There are incoming ISUWR‘s, Koby Howard is highly regarded and will likely start, and we’re likely bringing in another upper level portal WR as well. We’ve done better than I thought retaining upper level talent on the team, but we’re still gonna end up with probably close to 50 transfers out. It’s not just us, this unfortunately is college football right now. I don’t know how it’s possible to maintain death, but in the end these players still have to go somewhere. What insanity.

LOL... what a f'ing mess this is.

These kids present these nice fancy "I'm staying" announcements then come back a couple days later changing their minds.

It's pathetic. If you are in doubt, shut your hole and make your choice when you are genuinely ready.

It's a **** show.

I hear it's pretty permanent, some say undefeated. Sorry, couldn't resist.

Again, when the new coach brings in the whole WR room from his previous school, why are you shocked? If you got a new boss that brought in a whole department of folks from his previous job to do your job, what would you do?

It gives me a hint of the soft mental state BGJ had many of our players in…

For whatever reason, some of these players would want to leak videos, go back on there word, run from competition etc..

I’m glad many of these players have run off to another place! It just seems there is a silent cancer that needs to biopsied out. Kudos to Campbell for letting them walk.

He was feeling left out :) with nearly 40% of D1 players in the portal. What intrigues me most of all is when the musical chairs stop. How many are going to be left standing around or without a comparable or better landing spot? Surely, programs will not leave their spot open if they can fill it with comparable or better talent.

With the WRs I think there is another wrinkle. If you look at the ISU WR you see that Noah Pauley prefers big bodied receivers to the smurfs recruited by PSU's revolving door of receiver coaches. There are just so many slot snaps to go around. Samuel and Outten should stay because they have the requisite body type and will be developed properly.

Same goes with several other positions. When you look at the length Broom likes for Safeties you see the long rangy types that weigh above 200lb. Same with the DL.

Hope nothing but success for those leaving.

Absolutely the exact way I feel also. This was the Franklin stench that needed cleaning up. We are in the final stages of cleaning now. My hope is that the rest of the stink leaves by the end of January so we can start this championship culture in the Spring. I think we are at 50 gone now and my guess is we finally finish with a total of 60 Franklin stench ridden guys gone in the end. Don't let the door hit you on your way out.

No need to be harsh. Existing players are also evaluating their fit in a regime. Leaving does not necessarily mean that they were soft or did not want to compete, but if you are a 5'10" receiver and you see Pauley's preferred type measuring 6'2" * you may think you would be rowing upstream to get on the field, especially with Howard staying (if he stays),

All good points. And I hope both receivers you indicate end up staying. What will be fascinating as well as that this roster is going from a regionally recruited base to a national base. I wonder if we stay more national in the long run, even after Campbell’s team gets situated in the northeast and mid-Atlantic.

Campbell is known for wanting to get his players from a geographic area within eight hours of his coaching spot. So, they will continue to recruit the PSU footprint but with the coaches they are bringing in and their past relationships I see them branching out as well. They have very good ties to Ohio as well, so they may make a push there as well.
