Levi shocked everyone but PSU wrestling fans, that have watched his progression these last 3 years. Homegrown talent at it's best!
I was a little concerned when he lost to a Greek guy who has never medaled at worlds. Turns out that was a preview of the gold medal match! Hopefully he can flip the outcome.
Didn’t realize they took the push out point away. Dinging Levi for passivity was ridiculous……..except the guy was holding center in period 1. Second period both guys were attacking.

FYI on mat assignments for Team USA in this afternoon's medal round:
Having Molinaro Bronze match flashbacks after that one. RBY needed about 1 more second to get the winning TD vs Haruntunyan, loses 7-4 after yolo challenge.
RBY dropped his bronze medal match 6-4. Went for a late takedown but it wasn't awarded.
But also... could have done ANY of that in the first period. ugh.
Frank was also inexplicably passive his whole Olympic run, but RBY’s skill set is different and a difference maker when he’s “on.”

They should have let him try—don’t think the knee was down but they blew the whistle way too soon. Sidakov is stone in arctic permafrost cold. smh.
They were out of bounds, right? Walking him to the edge is the safe play, but you do run that risk.
I was thinking @vhsalum1 was talking about the step out they gave Carr instead of the TD. Both of Sidakov’s hands were out, but you see refs give guys a chance to climb up and get a knee down in that situation in continuation. This guy blew the whistle immediately.
Rewatched and agree. Quick whistle. Thought maybe David’s knee landed out of bounds or something, but they didn’t give him a chance at all.
Haines got a late takedown at the end but it wasn't enough as he finishes with silver after falling to Georgios Kougioumtsidis of Greece 3-2 in the 79kg finals.
Damn. So close. So young. Can't wait to see what he does this whole quad.
I think Kougi chest never stopped facing the mat, Haines did not seem to think it was close to a turn
Carr’s dad is a PA guy and he is the US rep so I’m going to cheer for him in every match. That being said, I can find a bit of consolation in the fact that there won’t be a returning world medalist sitting in the finals of Final X next year, which may help improve MM’s or Duke’s chances of taking the spot. Does that make me a bad person?
After watching Levi's match with Akhmed, they need to change the rules to, you don't return to center once warning, next time point. That was ridiculous and that would fix the fake lungers!
