After watching Levi's match with Akhmed, they need to change the rules to, you don't return to center once warning, next time point. That was ridiculous and that would fix the fake lungers!
I know this may be an unpopular take here, but many things drive me nuts about freestyle, and that is certainly one of them.

That Trent Hidlay match was memorable stuff. I think Gilman was the last US guy to win a World gold medal who had never won NCAAs. Rare accomplishment that really says something about desire and will to win. And yet another patient US comeback against a opponent that gassed from relentless pressure.

Levi wrestled great all tournament, I thought, and is obviously right there. Both he and RBY just needed another second. I thought where Levi improved was in handfighting and level changes--he never stopped moving, did a great job of picking his spots to shoot and capitalizing on the constant movement. Probably also better conditioned than he was in March.

Pretty sure no one had us swapping out Dake, Burroughs, and Taylor with Haines, Zahid, and Hidlay and still getting 2 golds, 1 silver.

Your last sentence really is pretty remarkable and I'm guessing that you're 100% accurate. I wouldn't have anticipated 2 golds and a silver myself.

You could maybe throw Cox in there too as part of the old guard upper-middle weights.

Only Snyder stubbornly remains, and second in seniority is Spencer Lee. On paper this was shaping up to be a rebuilding/down year, but even the guys who didn't medal (okay, most of them) wrestled well and were right there. I thought the future was bright, but that a lot of these newer guys would need more seasoning before they developed into threats to contend.

Hoping Blaze is the cure to our ills at 65kg.

I would drink so many ******* beers with Hidlay tonight. That young man deserves to blow off that giant tank of steam.

maybe give him a handler, too. I know I’d need one, if I were in his shoes.
If a beer guzzler were in Hidlay’s shoes, maybe Hidlay would not be champ! 😉😀

I think Kougi chest never stopped facing the mat, Haines did not seem to think it was close to a turn
I went back and watched it in super-slowmo. At one point Kougi's shoulders appeared mightily close to 90, but unfortunately it was probably 2-4 hundredths of a second too late. Still super proud of Levi! The best is yet to come for that dude.
