PSU fans should watch Grey Burnett's matches from today. There was an amazing scramble in his first match with 20 seconds left that he somehow came out on top of to win a 3-2 match, and he won his second 3-0 and showcased some great defense and positioning. The reason I say PSU fans specifically is because this kid wrestles like a clone of Marcus Blaze; which makes sense because not only was Blaze his HS Teammate, but Burnett's dad is the Perrysburg HS coach and even cornered Marcus this year at the US Open. I don't know if he will stay at a weight that works for PSU, but I would be shocked if he is not strongly linked to wearing the blue and white at the next level.

So I’m working today and tomorrow morning and am going to miss the semis. Any pbp or run downs of the matches would be greatly appreciated!

The kid Burnett lost to in his semi (Okonogi from Japan) was training with both NC State and Coach KD (Duke, James, Welsh's club) earlier this summer. He seems like he could potentially be convinced to take the Ono/Rin route and do college in the US. If so, he would be a major recruiting target

It's a homecoming for Nagao -- he attended Esperanze HS.

Sanchez has worn PSU gear in the past. Of course a lot of guys say they want to come to PSU, but he's good enough to make that happen. Training with Nagao doesn't hurt.
FuLl CoUrT pReSs!! Seriously though, Sanchez is a kid you go after hard. He is elite and if there is any want on his end then Cael and Co need to make him a priority and lock him up

Taina dominated in her gold medal match; she and Turner are future stars, and I am curious to see what their college/RTC decisions will look like.
I said it earlier in this thread but I truly believe that both Turner and Taina will win senior level world and Olympic titles. They are that good. Taina reminds me a bit of Elor. Most everything they do comes off upper body ties and brutal handfighting. They don’t give their opponents any space. It’s like wrestling inside a phone booth. Taina has more leg attacks but I think both girls would rather beat you up in the hand fight and score from front head and go behinds. I’m not saying Taina is on Amit’s level but I do think she is going to dominate in a similar fashion

I just went back and watched Aaron Stewart’s loss to Russia today. No doubt he is an incredible athlete but his height is going to be a major issue at the next level. He’s built very similar to Gabe Arnold. His opponent today had a good 6+ inches on him it looked like. Giving up that much length makes it so hard to generate consistent offense especially in the middle and upper weights. Stewart is going to play football as well in college which really limits his upside. I’m just not sure what to think about him as a prospect going forward

Agreed. Stewart is listed as 5' 8" for football ... and if you're short, whatever your listed height is probably generous.

Plus he's a RB -- and what other position can a 5' 8" guy play (other than kicker)? By the time Bielema gets done pounding him into the ground, there might not be anything left for wrestling.

His D1 wrestling matches might look like this:

Definitely. I had mentioned on the old board how he dominated as a freshman at the single division 2025 California State tournament. In the tournament his matches went 15-0, Fall, Fall, Fall, Fall, and 20-0 in the Finals to complete his 33-0 perfect season! Here is his match in the Finals:
