The obvious lungers are the biggest annoyance about freestyle. Easy fix, but with conditioning being a typical advantage US there won't be any big incentive to fix that.
It's like they spend as much time on learning to game the system than on training. He doesn't get the injury time, next step is to try to point out blood on your opponent. It's pathetic.

What an overall great performance from this team!!

I know Blaze isn’t forgotten about by any means but I feel like all of us, myself included, don’t give him enough praise. I’m sure it’s because he is soft spoken and doesn’t want the attention as well as PJ and Jax making the senior team. That said, no one can tell me that he wasn’t the best guy in this entire tournament. He has demolished some really tough guys. So impressive

Henckel was quite impressive as well. Beating Amit and going 8-6 with Yousefi is a great tournament. Yousefi won senior Asians this year where he teched Saipudinov 10-0 in the finals. Saipudinov is the guy Levi just beat 10-5 at the ranking series event. Henckel is absolutely the real deal. I think he forces himself into the lineup after this coming season

Considering UWW is all about trying to reward active wrestling, allowing these ridiculous injury breaks only rewards those who are out of shape and have no ethical qualms about feigning an injury to get a breather. Those wrestlers who are in shape and those who have enough character to not feign an injury are the ones who are punished. I also agree with you that the fact most American wrestlers are in great shape weighs against UWW addressing this problem. Also, the Indian and Japanese wrestlers tend to be in good shape. In watching numerous matches from this tournament it sure seems like the Eastern European wrestlers feign injury the most along with possibly Iran.

I'm not so sure about an easy fix. There are options, but none is perfect. Part of the dilemma is that you don't want to compromise on a competitor's safety. And when it comes to injuries, it's usually only the competitor that knows what they are feeling. Folkstyle, in HS and in college, has come up with injury time clocks, and in college the opponent has the choice of position on the restart. And yet even in those disciplines, head injuries are an asterisk with special rules.

As in any competitive sport, there are those that will take advantage of any rule to try to get themselves/their team an advantage. I've seen it take place in HS competitions that I was reffing (in terms of using injury time), and have suspected wrestlers in international competitions of doing the same.

Freestyle seems to have no problem drawing a line in the sand and enforcing it.
Just like a challenge. Challenge if you believe a mistake was made, lose a point if incorrect. Take a moment, it's a point. Take a second and it's another point with injured wrestler par terre. A third, done. Try it for an Olympic cycle, make an adjustment if necessary. But address it.
