I love it. Somebody is winning, somebody is losing.
I dig this principle. It's a really novel concept, in all of sports. And has definite value.

But not indicating it with an actual change of score is hilariously silly.

And trying to indicate who is winning with an underline underneath one of the tied scores is mindnumbing insanity.

Honestly, I think that part of the reason why USA is the best in the world with conditioning is training for folk is more strenuous. You have to work 'hard' from all three positions.

Free style is a different animal. Neutral is definitely taxing, but Par terre seems to be low energy from bottom and you work hard for a quick gut or lace, and if you can't get it your done, reset.

The pattern is pretty consistent across age groups as well.

I think it helps counter balance the deficit that skills training in two different disciplines creates.

Is Stanich the first documented case of gassing someone from bottom in freestyle? Could be a big problem for the NCAA field this year.

Exciting stuff reading all the accounts of the matches especially the PSU guys but how has success at worlds for previous guys translated to ncaa success?

Any suggestions on how to counter phantom injuries and lungers?

Shades of Jamarr Billman hitting multiple consecutive cement mixers in the PA state finals.
The Eckloff brothers from Northampton I think won 5 State titles using cement jobs taught to them by Don Rohn. Don's nephew Rob Rohn hit the greatest cement job in college. He was losing by more than 10 in 3rd period in NCAA finals when he hit the haymaker.

I thought the haymaker was only legal in boxing. And hockey.

Quite a memorable final. And even after the cement mixer (he was down 14-3 at the time), it took him quite some time to secure the pin, doing so with 15 sec. left in the 3rd period.

Stanich looked to be soooo close to giving up that final gut wrench for the loss, but what an awesome comeback! And that ref sure did give Toprak A LOT of time on top.
To go from this to winning gold is incredible. This is just a great reminder to never stop fighting. For 13 seconds Luke had to fight off that potential match-ending gut. And considering this was only a Qualifying match there was definitely a chance that Toprak doesn't make the Finals and Luke DNPs. Great job, Luke!

@zzs006 I didn't see Max's Finals opponent from Russia in your earlier weight breakdown. I checked the UWW site for him. His name is listed, but no results are shown. Was he a late addition for Russia? From his results this tournament he seems to be very good defensively. He is short, stocky and difficult to move around. I also watched some of Khateri's matches. I don't see him having much for Blaze.

I couldn’t find anything on Max’s opponent. A few of these guys were making their international debuts and I think he’s one of them. Russia always has tough kids but I expect Max to win
Khateri is very good but I’ll be shocked if he beats Blaze. I think he just tries to shut everything down and keep it close. Blaze has found offense from par tarre this whole tournament so hopefully he can get a few turns and make Khateri open up in nuetral

The refs need to tell the floppers, to get up off they're lying asses.

But see, I think you nailed it. Maybe in Iran and Russia, and elsewhere, feigning injury in freestyle to catch your breath is just as expected as a soccer player pretending his leg is broken, then running off like nothing happened a minute later after the penalty kick. I’m dead serious.

Big board ranking aside, did we get the 1 2 and 3 prospect in Class of 2025?

Will's recent ascension is a lot like Mesenbrink winning silver after graduating and final big boards being release already.

Perhaps Cael's internal unshared big board is the best recruiting ranking of them all!

Max has no chance.
