Mirasola has a match he should win rd.1 and then he would get a major Quarter against Russia's Gagloev. This is a match that likely determines who brings home gold so Mirasola will have to be on his A-Game. The likely semi-opponent is Kassimbek who won U20 Asians and has to beat guys who were in that bracket to make semi's , but was a U17 last year and was teched by Mocco from USA.

On the other side Dursonov will be the big favorite to make the finals as all the continental champs are on the other side and his Euro Silver is the best accomplishment of the group. His most likely semi-opponent is the Iranian Nezhad.

Predicition:
Final: Mirasola over Dursonov
Semi: Mirasola over Kassimbek, Semi: Dursonov over Nezhad
Bronze: Gagloev over Kassimbek, Bronze: Nezhad over ? (Dursonov quarter has nobody jumping out to me)

USA RESULT: MIRASOLA GOLD

In total, I'm predicting 8 medals: 4 Gold, 1 Silver, 3 Bronze. Not a bad take-home at all, and this is a team good enough to bring home ten if everyone wrestles their absolute best.
8 medals is a great result. Doesn’t match last years 9 but 4 golds would make this team maybe the best US U20 team ever. Last year only Lilledahl won gold out of the 5 finalists. We got a few really tough draws that makes me think your prediction of 8 medals is just about right

Right now the 2 best teams I can think of are 2017 and last years. 2017 didn’t have as many weights but the US had 3 champs in Daton Fix, Mark Hall, and Gable. Zahid, Deakin, and McKee won silver and Kollin Moore was bronze. We medaled at 7 of 8 weights

I’m so excited for this to start! I took tomorrow off work so I’ll be up watching but unfortunately I have to work Monday and Tuesday. I’ll still be up through the night but will most likely miss the morning rounds. I’ll try and do some pbp tonight if no one else is doing it. Hopefully others can pitch in on the other days

Any and all are encouraged to pipe in with PBP, results, commentary, etc.

I believe @GregPickel indicated that he'll be getting up for the 3 am matches, and if so, he usually posts PBP or results.

I'm definitely out for Sunday for PBP and results, and probably out for the other days of MFS as well.

Since there is sometimes confusion as to what the criteria is for when a match ends tied, here is the criteria from the UWW Rules:

In case of tie by points, the winner will be declared by successively considering: - the highest value of holds; - the least amount of cautions; - the last technical point(s) scored.

Here we go!! Lockett up right away against MGL

Lockett with a quick td and another one right off the whistle. 4-0 a min in

Lockett defends a shot and runs behind for 2. 6-0. In a quick shot but MGL defends well this time and gets a stalemate. End of the period. 6-0

MgL in deep but Lockett defends and gets a stoppage. Short offense and another go behind into a gut for Lockett and that’s it. 10-0 tech!

Next round at 74kg there are some huge matchups. In the top quarter bracket we get Wagin vs Novruzov and Lockett vs Khaniev. Those should be medal matches but at least 2 of those guys won’t place

Elahi beats Sagar 6-5 in a really tough match. Elahi was absolutely spent and could barely move at the end. Sagar was massive. He looked a full weight class bigger than Elahi

Lockett up now on mat C vs Khaniev

Khaniev gets an underhook and pushes Lockett into the zone and then gets a stepout. 1-0 Khaniev. Lockett on the clock but gets a stepout with :01 on the clock. 1-1 at the break

Khaniev doing a good job of pressuring and making Lockett work from ties

Lockett gives up a go behind on the edge but they score it as a stepout for Dee. Khaniev challenging. Challenge won. 2-1 Khaniev.
Khaniev with another stepout. 3-1. Dee is getting frustrated. He hasn’t been able wrestle his match at all. Another stepout! 4-1. Lockett challenging. He has been completely shut down. No attacks at all. He needs space and Khaniev has given him none. :25 sec left. Challenge lost. 5-1

Dee with stepout. 5-2 and that’s how it ends. Lockett goes down. Khaniev has Wagin next who beat him at euros. Lockett needs Khaniev to reverse that result to get pulled back in

What was Lockett crying about all 2nd period? Seemed out of sorts and the other guy was just better.

That his opponent was pulling his hair, which he was. Lockett lost his composure and a point for pushing Khaniev in the chest. Lockett didn't look good. He looked winded early on and tried to wrestle from his knees far too often. Poor match overall both mentally and physically.

Elahi with another fairly tough match against Romania. He wins 7-0 but didn’t look great. I think Duke is going to destroy him

I see Ito went down.
And Alizadeh losing at the break. Crazy tournament. Lots of upsets already

Gold medal favorite Alizadeh gets beat!! 7-5 against Karavanos. Massive upset. Alizadeh recently beat 2 past senior world medalists. He also wrestled Yoshida to 3-2 match at one of the ranking series events. I can’t believe he lost. Rademachers path just got better

Now it’s Rademacher up on mat B

They get in a scramble and Rademacher gives up an exposure. 2-0 TUR. He strikes right back with a double and it’s 4-2 Rademacher. I missed something or they scored that as a 4. Rademacher with a stepout. 5-2

Low level attack for Justin but he lets it go to come upper body. TUR goes for a big throw and I’m not sure how they will score this. Refs are conferencing and they go 2 for TUR. 5-4

Rademacher defends and then in on another low attack. Scrambling and he gives up an exposure but then gets 1 as he nds up on top. He look like the better guy but he’s giving up dumb exposures

6-6 at the break.
Nice attack right away for a td and then he gets a turn as well. 10-6 USA. Rademacher I’m on a low shot again. Gets turned for 2 and then gets 1 back. 11-8

Justin in on a single. Brings it up high and TUR hits the Kolat backflip but it doesn’t work out for him. 13-8

Rademacher with a beautiful shot and finishes it for 4 and then climbs up the body and gets the fall!
A bit sloppy but great attacks. Got freestyled a bit but not a bad first match
