Elahi should talk to Mitch. That was strange.

I hope we get to see them wrestle again. That was an interesting strength versus strength matchup for sure. I think Duke would’ve opened it up if Elahi had extended himself though.

If by a few you mean 17, yes.
I originally posted Bartlett, then saw Nerf post that it reminded him of Mesenbrink, and edited it because I didn't trust my memory. But someone can help me out here maybe because I'm pretty sure this happened to Beau just a few months ago.

EDIT to mention that Barlett lost to Bassett at the trials 1-0 and thought he was winning. Not criteria confusion but same d'oh moment.

Yes, in Bartlett's match against Bo Bassett recently.

At least in freestyle, there’s an indicator on the scoreboard. But apparently it happens more often than we realized.

Given the international officials, they may not be able to communicate with the wrestlers like many of us are accustomed to in folkstyle. Still, the coaches need to be on the ball......the language of the scoreboard is universal.

They need a "shot clock" in this sport. Get your *** up off the mat and to center or it is a point after a first warning. Then progress to 2 points 3 then DQ.

For you freestyle lovers this semi final on now is a shame, the reason why it will never overtake folkstyle in the USA. Such a bad take on wrestling.

How hard is it for these Eastern Bloc guys to work a little on their conditioning???

I mean, I get it that not everyone has the genetics for a gas tank, but these elite guys that just gas out at the 2 minute mark?

It's embarrassing. And it's not just a one off. Consistently these guys are gassers

There’s just no replication for it.

plus, these are “kids” - they have to learn how to have a gas tank AFTER cutting weight. There’s a level of professionalism Americans have due to our incessant need to compete often.

these guys barely compete 4 times a year.

Duke’s opponent in the finals is Giadarli from Moldova. He was 18th at this tournament last year and took 5th at U20 euros this year. At euros he lost 11-1 to Otinashvili who he beat 13-3 first round today. Kid is having the tournament of his life. He beat Nakaev 16-11 at euros who is a common opponent between him and Duke
