I live in AZ now. My boss got bit by a rattlesnake on the foot and nearly lost two toes. I tried to shame him into giving pictures but he didn’t comply.

Saw a lion in Colorado but never in AZ. Took a bobcat while hunting once.

I have seen 2 gila monsters! They are great.

finally, I go into the backyard every couple weeks to reduce the scorpion population. Wife got stung once in the kitchen, and a cat showed up with a fat lip one day, I’m sure it was a scorpion.

All that said, I love Arizona.

back to wrestling. What, 3 weeks to our first competition?
Where in AZ, Rocky? I'll be in Surprise in early December for a tennis tournament. A good time to visit. But Phoenix and Tucson are just too damn hot for me for half the year.

Gilbert. Just got back from a successful mule deer hunt on the Kaibab plateau.

Now is the best time to be here.

Unfortunately a bit far from State College, but we get back sometimes.

Three posts in a row, sorry folks, but that interview posted of Mitchell is great! How many athletes would thank their professors for their allowance to let him miss classes and compete. I love the kid. Also what Joe Russell said to MM and the team to enjoy this moment is so true. Mitchell is on such a different level as to wrestling and cerebral understanding with life is amazing.

When does this show get rolling? I thought this was supposed to start 40-minutes ago. Is it day-light savings time?

One benefit of living in Arizona is not having to change clocks twice a year!

Watching the 57 kg Iranian right now. The one Luke beat in quarters. This kid has some offense. If you recall he was getting in on Luke and score a few but Luke was savvy.

Generally I find the international wrestlers boring or passive. Not this kid. Check him out if you haven’t seen him. Valizadeh

Let’s go boys!

86kg R1- Rocco Welsh vs. Aaron Ayzerov (ISR)

Period 1:
Rocco's up. Here we go. Hand fighting & circling. Rocco presses forward. He looks for an underhook. Ayzerov drops to his knees. They're both on their knees now, but work back to their feet. Rocco reaches for a leg. Ayzerov barrels forward on a clumsy shot. Rocco sprawls, then counters & drives Ayzerov out, 2-0. Back to neutral. Rocco with some hard snaps. Ayzerov tries an underhook, but Rocco backs out. Ayzerov shoots, no luck. Rocco drops in on a leg, elevates it & takes Ayzerov out, 3-0. Back to neutral. Ayzerov shoots & Rocco steps away. Tying up with snaps. Ayzerov shoots. Rocco sprawls, then works to a leg & comes behind for the TD, 5-0. Rocco didn't really try for a turn & we're back to neutral. Circling with collar ties & hand fighting. Rocco fakes a shot, then they go back to collar ties. Rocco hits an inside single & finishes another TD, 7-0. He tries for a leg lace, but can't finish the turn & the period expires. 7-0 Rocco

Period 2:
Circling & head snaps. There's a flurry of action with both wrestlers fighting for an opening, but nothing really happens, as neither can get a grip on the other. They break & go back to circling. Rocco snaps, then snatches an outside leg & finishes another TD on the edge, 9-0. Neutral restart. Circling, hand fighting & snaps. Rocco dives for an ankle, but Ayzerov circles away. Rocco snatches the leg again & drives Ayzerov out for 4, 13-0. Ayzerov is challenging. To me, it looked like Rocco was just trying to walk Ayzerov out of bounds for the win & Ayzerov attempted a throw on the edge.

Challenge won, score changed to 10-0, but it's still a tech for Rocco. Rocco has a slick & quick snatch single.

Rocco Welsh TECH Aaron Ayzerov 10-0 (4:06)

Were you on the north or south Kaibab? North side has monster bucks.

The "Biscuit" in Elgin, AZ is a nice little hike. There's an old circular stone lookout at the top with a fantastic view. There are lots of vineyards & wine tours down that way too.

Funny story, actor Timothy Olyphant's parents live at the base of the biscuit. While looking for a place to park I accidentally drove onto their property & through some grass while trying to turn around. His father came out yelling, then we got to talking & he turned out to be a really nice guy. He let me park in his driveway & use his trail entrance.

65kg R1- Marcus Blaze vs. Bilol Sharip Uulu (KGZ)

Period 1:
Cody is in the corner for Marcus. Here we go. Blaze doesn't look that much smaller than his opponent. Circling, hand fighting & head taps. Blaze is holding center & inching forward. Blaze reaches for a leg, but can't get there. Passivity warning on Uulu. Tying up & hand fighting. Blaze tries a 2 on 1, Uulu pulls away. Back to collar ties & hand fighting. Uulu gets a 2nd passivity warning & goes on the clock. He reaches for a leg off the whistle, but doesn't come close. Blaze goes back to a 2 on 1, but Uulu pulls away again. More circling & hand fighting. Blaze tries a 2 on 1 again, but no luck. Blaze gets a shot clock point, 1-0. Blaze shoots. Uulu circles away. Blaze tries to grab an ankle as Uulu circles away, but Uulu pulls away from his grip. More circling & hand fighting. Uulu shoots & gets to a leg. He keeps driving & takes Blaze out, 1-1, adv. Uulu. Great defense by Blaze not to get taken down there. The period quickly ends after that. 1-1, adv. Uulu

Period 2:
Back to action. Collar ties & hand fighting. Blaze inches forward. Uulu tries a throw by, but no luck. Uulu shoots. Blaze sprawls back & tries to grab an ankle, but no luck. Back to neutral. Blaze inches forward. Stoppage & warning on Blaze for something. Circling & tying up. Uulu reaches, but no luck. Blaze gets a 2nd passivity warning & goes on the clock. I missed the first one. Circling & collar ties. Blaze pushes forward slightly. Uulu gets a shot clock point, 2-1, 1:23 left. Blaze pushes forward more & has Uulu near the edge. Uulu pushes back to center & then takes a half shot. Blaze reaches, then shoots. Uulu counters & is trying to come behind. Blaze has a whizzer in & is fighting hard. They work to their feet & Uulu drives Blaze out for 1, 3-1. Great defense by Blaze! Blaze quickly drops in on a leg & takes Uulu out, 3-2. Challenge by Blaze. He's saying Uulu grabbed his singlet.

Challenge lost, point Uulu, 4-2. Back to action. Blaze shoots immediately off the whistle, but time quickly expires. That's unfortunate. Marcus was great at controlling center & had phenomenal defense. I can't believe he didn't give up a takedown on Uulu's last shot. He just didn't have enough offense to win.

Bilol Sharip Uulu DEC Marcus Blaze 4-2

When his wrestling career is over, he is going to make a great coach. I hope it is at Penn State.
