74kg Finals- Mitchell Mesenbrink vs. Muhammed Ozmus (TUR)

Period 1:
Time for the slaughter. One more victim for Mitchell. Does Ozmus know what's coming? Any bets on how many lungers Ozmus is going to need? Here we go! Mesenbrink with a quick shot, but Ozmus counters & gets the TD, 2-0. Back to neutral. Mesenbrink with some hard snaps. Ozmus complaining to the ref. Back to action. Mesenbrink immediately drops to a leg. He keeps working & finishes the TD, 2-2, no turns. Back to neutral. Ozmus slow to get up & now complaining to the ref about something. Mesenbrink shoots, Ozmus jumps back. Mesenbrink shoots again & finishes the TD, 4-2. Mesenbrink working hard, but no turns, back to neutral. Mesenbrink shoots & quickly finishes another TD, 6-2. Mesenbrink locks up a chicken with & is looking for a turn, but the ref blows it dead. Ozmus wants a break, but the ref says, "No.'. Mesenbrink shoots again & finishes another TD, 8-2. He has the legs laced, but looses it. Back to neutral. Mesenbrink shoots, snatches an ankle & finishes the TD, 10-2. They work back to their feet. Mesenbrink immediately attacks & finishes another TD right before the period ends. Mitchell takes a hot lap around the mat with the flag draped behind him, like a cape. Super Mitchell is the champ!

Mitchell Mesenbrink TECH Muhammed Ozmus 10-0

Mitchell is the 74kg U23 Champion!

LA is not in the middle of California bud.

I’ll take it easy on you because I’m a Pens fan. Where did I say LA is in the middle of that state? LA is in what would be the “middle” area between SD and NoCal. I’ve unfortunately had to go to that miserable state a lot, so I don’t need the geography lesson. Anyways, on a happier note, Danny Muse is the man & go Pens!

Great tournament for Mesenbrink, he's really putting it all together, adding the smarts to the intensity.

He faced a much better opponent in the semis though. I'll have to watch the semi were Ozmus beat reigning U23 world champ Khaniev because Mesenbrink went through him pretty easily. Ozmus didn't look like he belonged in the finals at all.

Mitchell is so ******* good. Absolute pleasure to watch. I’m not sure who would be worse to wrestle between Levi and Mesenbrink. Levi just physically beats you down with hard collar ties and snaps. Mitchell just breaks you with pace. 2 different styles but both equally effective

I think Lilledahl is almost getting lost in the shuffle a bit with what Duke, Blaze, and Jax have done recently. Luke is just so damn good though. I watch him dismantle these foreigners and wonder how he ever lost last year in college. I know folk is very different but he’s good on bottom and elite in neutral. He does seem much stronger and bigger especially through the chest and shoulders. A physically stronger Luke is going to dominate 125 this year I think

Khaniev just lost to Wagin who didn’t place at U20’s this year. Wagin is very good but he lost to Lockett at U20’s. Not sure what is up with Khaniev but he didn’t have a good tournament

Agree. Luke is going to be a 3 time NCAA Champion. Young man is Special.

Lilledahl had trouble (i.e., a close win in the dual and a loss at NCAA) with Seymour because he couldn't break through Seymour's neutral defense. Plus, Seymour was stronger physically. Lilledahl is also probably a bit better in freestyle than in folk.

Still, 3rd place at NCAAs as a true freshman is pretty good.

Both matches against Seymour shows why Gilman back is so massive for Luke. He was losing the hand fight bad in those matches.

I know how it feels - I live in NY and it’s a trash dump of a city (well, a few cities) and a really cool rest-of-the-state.

I don’t usually pay attention to or endorse interrupting good wrestling talk with extracurricular topics (unless of course it’s @amattaro posting pics of javelinas humping). But, I’ve gotta throw in an amen here.

This summer I discovered upstate NY. Wow! It’s truly gorgeous. The lush forests, farmlands, rolling hills, and picturesque small towns rival the beauties I’ve seen in the mountain west, west coast, and middle America.

NYC is to the rest of the state what Mount Doom is to Middle Earth. The state should’ve pursued de-annexation long ago.

If you’ve never been to the northern part of the state, put a road trip on your bucket list.

I was trying to make a funny dig at LA. Hopefully on your trips to Cali you got a chance to visit Yosemite, Kings Canyon, Sequoia, Monterey Bay etc and not just the cities. Yes, Pens off to a surprisingly great start!

It’s obvious that you don’t know how wealthy I am. I’m rich.
Yeah, you and Epstein. So what!

Unwise to come over here and puff up your chest.

I have a low grade MBA, and at least I understand the concept of ROI. Better yet ROII, return on Iowa investment. Try calculating yours over the past few years. A fool and his money are easily parted.

Then again you are probably just some monkey pretending to be Bob

Great observation. Most people, maybe Justin Basch aside, wouldn’t know you can fit Yosemite AND Yellowstone within the boundaries of Adirondack Park. NYC is like LA… fun to visit and great to go home from, but the rest of NY really is God’s country (save a few depressed industrial small cities). And I say this as a former Midwesterner and Pacific Northwesterner - not a native New Yorker.

We are partial to the Finger Lakes due to wineries. NY is filled with waterfalls and gorges. Wonderful place and people.

I've often said that it's a shame that Madison County has to be in New York state or subject to the same politics and taxes (and that's not intended to be a general left versus right comment, just a reflection of some of the really crazy stuff), otherwise I'd retire there. Madison County, NY truly is lovely, as are many other spots in the upstate. I also love the Finger Lakes and could easily find myself retiring near Hammondsport or a few other villages, but can't/won't pay those taxes.

I will third this sentiment. I had the good fortune to be stationed twice in upstate NY at the now closed bases in Syracuse and Rome as well as spending some time TDY to the now closed base in Plattsburgh. When I went home to PA and back, I would take a different route as often as time would allow just to see more of the state. If it wasn't for the g0dd@mn cold and the effin' taxes, I would retire there. I remember taking a trip to Lake Placid and stopping by a store/restaurant next to a river and a massive brook trout was lazily hanging out in the stream -- it was a scene right from an old Genesee beer commercial from the 70s.
