2A-2AA Question for Clinton

That's what I was thinking, but last year we were at 841 and the cutoff for 2AA was 847. I guess it will depend on which teams make the playoffs this year as to where the cutoff will be.

Heard from some school officials tonight who said Clinton will most likely be 2AA in the playoff seedlings

If that is the case their path in the east just got harder
Really didn't see anybody in 2a east beating them

Might open up a path for East Bladen to make it to the championship game this year then.

Actually I don't think 2AA is any harder, maybe this year but since split classifications began I've always thought in most cases the 2A was more difficult

Would be good to see Clinton move up to 2AA come playoff time instead of running over everyone in the 2A East bracket.

Running over everyone in the east is one thing, but shelby in the west is different. I'd want to avoid them any way possible.

I agree wiz, I'm sure Clinton fans want another shot at Shelby. But speaking for my team, I'd want to avoid Shelby this year, that's just how I feel this year.

This throws an interesting monkey wrench in the 2AA playoffs. Depending on who is slotted where we could see an East Lincoln/Monroe and Andrews/Clinton final four. Those would be as good a set of games as any in any classification. As for 2AA being easier, I don't agree. I give Shelby great respect but I know that Monroe and Andrews could beat them because they are both just as big, quick and athletic and both are aggressive and physical teams. Both would be playoff teams in 4A. EL could give them fits because of their offense but I still think Shelby would out duel them.

Just to clarify I'm not saying no one can beat Shelby. I think Monroe and Andrews could, but they don't have to worry about that more than likely. East Lincoln is another team I'd give a shot to. Its a couple more teams I would name that would give them a game.

If somehow both Shelby and Clinton were both 2AA then the 2AA playoffs would be the most competitive in the state, regardless of classification. It would be unreal!

From a fans point of view I hope it happens! See how good both schools along with the other impressive teams really are

Inyourdome I would agree. Really do not know what TW Andrews brings to the table along with the other schools in 2AA east

This would shake things up in 2AA east for sure. SWE seems to be pretty strong with Washington down this year and not sure where Northeastern will end up? I'd love to see Clinton in the mix. Are Kinston and Greene Central for real and what class would they be?

In the west East Lincoln is very good but not great like last year and Monroe seems to have improved. I'd put Monroe as the team to beat and what if Shelby does go 2AA...wow. HP Andrews looks great too but it's impossible to know which bracket they will be in.

Not so fast my friend (always wanted to say that). East is improving fast on both sides of the ball. I think Chazz Surratt could be the best football player in the state at this point. He is far from all we have either. I'm not saying we'll win another title but I'm confident in this coaching staff. Coach Byus and company, I wouldn't trade for anyone. We may be a little down but East Lincoln will be a player for sure, and it ain't just Chazz.

2AA could potentially be overloaded with the best 2A teams in this case.. East Lincoln, Monroe, Northeastern, Shelby, TW Andrews, then Clinton. I know the cliche about it being too early, but barring injuries, the 2AA would be a guantlet depending on which side the teams are seeded.
Sending Monroe and/or TW Andrews east would shake things up tremendously over there. Having either on in the west would also make it ultra competitive after 2nd round. I think Andrews, Monroe, or Shelby could get to the 3A title game(if Crest wasn't there).

I heard SWE,Kinston,Northeastern have a chance of going 2A which leaves HPA,Clinton,Greene Central,Northside Jax as main contenders in the East I would think.....I forsee a HPA vs Clinton Eastern final in 2AA
