2A class "upsets"

In 2A, looks like four of the first-round games were won by the lower seeded team, with No. 12 Lincolnton and No. 11 Red Springs the lowest seeds to advance. Lincolnton wasn't an upset, not sure about Red Springs. No. 10 Greene Central and No. 9 Clinton also won on the road.

In 2AA, looks like four lower seeds advanced: No. 9 West Stokes, No. 10 Patton, No. 11 Pisgah and No. 12 Foard. The big surprise had to be Foard, since they lost to Maiden 37-14 back in August and Maiden was undefeated.

Were any of these other road wins surprises?

Don't sneeze or look down on Red Springs. The only losses they suffered were by South Columbus, Whiteville and East Bladen. They are deceiving.

#9 east Montgomery beat #8 east Rutherford on the road last night

Not sure that West Stokes beating Bunn was an upset. West Stokes probably should have hosted as they are ranked 1 slot higher than Bunn in MaxPreps; something screwy happened there and one of the WS fans was ticked off.

Below are CalPreps predictions for those games. The ones in blue while bracket upsets were expected wins. The ones in brown are minor upsets but the projections were between 1 and 4 points which are basically toss-ups. The Greene Central was a complete blowout as was the East Montgomery game. Maiden and Foard are old rivals and their earlier game was the first game in August. Maiden also struggled in games with good competition late in the season.
