How does a team win 52-0 allow 0 yards in a game and drop a spot or two?
#mindnumbing

If you didn't play anyone good and the team that jumped you played better opposition that can explain it. Winning 52-0 is good, but if that team isn't that good it doesn't really help you.

Then why not leave said team in the previous spot. If it doesn't help then it shouldn't be counted against them either.

I think not my friend!!
We will just have to agree to disagree. Although not perfect, Simmons has historically been very accurate. That is if you include and use the variables that he gives also, he's very accurate.

And got northeastern sitting in top 5 with a 2-2 record I hope u not serious bout that

Where do you see that ? NE isnt ranked In this poll? Max has them at 10. Now Simmons has NE at 4 I believe. NE has the number 1 SOS in 2a ball.

Imho, I think Pisgah should stay ranked somewhere between 8-12, assuming we are undefeated when conference games end. To be higher, we need to beat one of the perennial 2A powers in the playoffs.

Also, rankings, SOS, etc do not factor in playoff seedings. My understanding is that the conference champions are thrown in a hat, and then pulled out to determine the seedings. Then they add the appropriate 2nd place teams and any wildcard teams to finish the brackets.

Interesting.... Shelby struggles with now #14 in the poll Chase and falls to #2. Shelby then beats the undefeated number 3 team in 2A and stays second. Reidsville beats an 0-3 team and stays #1. Makes sense.

Could someone explain to us who Reidsville actually played and beat to warrant #1? (And let's remember....1A East Surray is not what they were last year.)

I like the looks of it with 3 CCC teams but dont think it is very accurate either. OG at 5 is strong since they beat Salisbury 2 years in a row but dont think they warrant 5 yet. North at 6 ios also too high for them, they did beat Salisbury too but Salisbury is struggling right now. Salisbury sould not be in the top 10. They lost 2 games to good teams but again I believe they are struggling and sould be out of top 10. JMO

So rankings mean little to nothing this season, right?
Yes, that’s is what I’ve heard. Coach Chappell also mentioned it on his show. They are using conference records only. Non-conference games don’t factor in at all

South Point goes from unranked to number 8 in five weeks. Every week they have moved up two to four spots. I'm sure that comes to a halt next week unless a couple teams in the top seven fall. The next three weeks will show us if their climb is deserved.

We find out how good we really are this week. East Duplin is always tough. Coach Johnson will have his boys ready though. Go horses!

This spring wildcard teams are decided based on conference winning percentage. Rankings will not be used

I threw the abacus away! It lied! There could be a 3 way tie at 5-1 in someone’s conference!

I’ve been hoping for that scenario to play out since South Point’s week one loss to Burns. SP was beaten by Burns, Burns was beaten by Shelby. If SP can win out, it would truly make for an interesting playoff bracketing. But I’m sure one of the three teams would end up with the $#!+¥ end of the stick.

And the fall from grace begins. By the time the middle of April gets here South Point might just be back where they started. UNRANKED.

CCC is tougher than most will give credit for with a state semi or state finals team 3 of the last 4 years. Not sure any of them are top five teams but OG/ND/Ledford and Salisbury are all quality teams and a tough game in the playoffs. OG has not made it past the 2nd round so far so time will tell if the Grizzlies can win the CCC and burst that playoff bubble to remain highly ranked.

OG has to get over two humps: beating Tville and winning a first round playoff game. Which may be even tougher than usual because of the smaller playoffs. Not many cupcakes to beat on this time due to limited spots.
