2nd hand info on a Mullen practice

One of our local h/s asst coaches and state grad, drove down to catch a practice or 2 last week. His words were, "they were killin' each other" and "bending and twisting off helmets, fights....it was great"

He said it was the most intense practice session he'd ever seen anywhere.

Quip from Dan Mullen, we may not be the most talented team in the SEC but we won't be out prepared or out hustled by any team, any time....."

He said a Croomian practice was as different from a Mullen practice as daylight and dark (figuratively of course)

I'll wait till after the first few games to see how the team is but I think we'll be much better with Mullen than with Croom. We couldn't do any worse in my opinion

about fighting and ripping off helmets at practice. Their rationale was "you practice like you play, and that creates dumb penalties..."

My point is, people from both sides will report both as being the right way to do it, and I find it amusing. Like always, the truth is somewhere in the middle. You want some of that as it shows intensity, but not too much that you play the same way.

I'm taking a "wait and see" attitude on everything. I hope we'll be better, but I won't believe it until I see it.

Results on the field/court are all that counts.

but this fall is going to be brutal. I think we'll be able to see improvement in some areas, but I'll be surprised if we do any better than 4-8. Crxxm just left us with too many gaping holes for us not to struggle for a year or two.
