Sounds about right,, A neutral field, it is probably a "Pick 'em"...Line opened about -7 but moved quickly to -3.5
I'm fairly concerned given our lack-luster showing Saturday and the building buzz around MSU and their QB.....

But did we even give maximum effort these past two weeks? They were glorified practices.
I don't know which would be worse.
Either we weren't giving our best effort, which shows a lack of control by the coaching staff and/or no commitment/buy-in from the players.
Or we were giving our best effort, which isn't particularly encouraging given how we looked against Towson.
Great points, and I agree. The only "PASS" i give them is Weather, One was hottest game ever at Willy=B, the other a Monsoon and a Weather delay!! I wish they would have been tested in one or the other, but wasnt really. I think this year is gonna be UGLY w/o Stewart and Peak... I am actually wondering if Stewart will even Play this year, looking like a bif NO, right now... They keep saying he is progressing well, but months ago they were saying " he will be back for the Miss St game". Maybe even seeing time in the Towson Game, Now he is sitting again this week...I don't know which would be worse.

I think there was a 'depth chart' that came out yesterday with both Peak and Stew absent. We all know Beamer's depth charts are about as trustworthy as his injury updates. The true(r) tell will be tomorrow when the official one has to be put out for the SEC.Is it confirmed he's out this week?
I hate all the subterfuge with Beamer's injury reports. It's not just that he's not specific about when they are expected back, but he always makes it sound like their return to the field is right around the corner. "He's close, really close. Trending the right direction. Doctors are pleased with where he's at right now."I think there was a 'depth chart' that came out yesterday with both Peak and Stew absent. That's the way I understand it anyway.
A lot of fiction and gamesmanship with the injury status. I think Coach Muschamp did this with D.J Wonnum.I think there was a 'depth chart' that came out yesterday with both Peak and Stew absent. That's the way we like it! Talk 'em up, right up to game time! We're a very slight favorite, basically a pick 'em. But MSU and their QB are the talk of college football right now. Everyone will be picking them to win this weekend.
I said two weeks ago Stewart won't play this year or will be extremely limited in playing time.Great points, and I agree. Beams said he hasn't even hit the sleds yet and no contact of any kind yet. - So, yeah, he ain't playing this season. Beams just wanted to drag it along to string the fans along until the season actually started. He was banking on winning distracting the fans, IMHO.
I wish he would just walk away so maybe we can allocate his misappropriated funds to someone else that actually wants to wear garnet and black and hit someone. I would add him to the list of high profile players that didn't live up to the hype or didn't pan out. But he is in a category all by himself. He never played!!!!
If his back was really as seriously injured as Beamer alluded to late last season, he may never play football again. I know people who have had back injuries and they have never fully recovered and have to be very careful about what sort of physical activity they engage in. It would only take one twisting block by a huge offensive tackle to reinjure his back and put him back at step one.I'm not alleging he's holding himself out. Assuming he's been out this long b/c of injury and is still not back to 100% football activities, it's not like he's gonna come back against Bama and play 50 snaps. If he's out this week, maybe he's back in limited action in Game 4 and 100% by Game 6?
Lazy route running, dropping balls costing us TDs. The OL and RBs look good. One RB has a tendency to fumble. If he keeps that up against SEC teams we'll be holding our breath every touch. But did we even give maximum effort these past two weeks? They were glorified practices.
I think the fact (if it is a fact) that he hasn't been practicing says a lot more than anything Beamer can say. We are close to the point where someone needs to look Beamer in the eye and say "don't piss on my head and tell me it's raining".How would NIL contributors feel if Beamer was stretching the truth this long just so Stewart can get paid. If he hasn’t played any football up to this point he’s not going to play at all.

This is why I hate playing two cupcakes to start the season. The team wins big, puts up gaudy numbers and thinks they are much better than they are. Playing against overmatched opponents reinforces the bad habits and lackadaisical attitude since the end result looks good and fans and media tell them how great they are. It is hard for coaches to get the message across to a player who had great stats in the first two games that he is not really playing at an elite level. That's the thing that concerns me about the not giving maximum effort theory is that things like running routes is all about consistency. It becomes muscle memory. You can't just be lazy about in the first 2 games and then decide you want to run crisp routes in your first SEC game. But maybe they just aren't good.
There's definitely a downside. Some like the cupcake games as glorified practices. But, reality is you can not play well and still win by an impressive looking score. We beat Towson 45-9, but if we play at the same level on Saturday, we'll get trounced. This is why I hate playing two cupcakes to start the season. Then, when a legit opponent shows up and is knocking the team around, the players are sort of lost as to what is happening.

It's concerning that in Year 6 of the Beamer tenure, we still show up and play sloppy and undisciplined against a team like Towson.
This. Open with a cupcake to warm up and get backups some live game experience and then schedule another mid season for homecoming to let the banged up starters have a little break and get the backups some more experience.Different conversation, but if we're going to play 2 patsies, I would prefer they were separated on the schedule.
A break mid year would serve our team better than two straight practice games. Imo
Yeah, I forgot to mention the DB giving up on his WR who scored the TD. Total brain fart. But that DB probably won't see the field against an SEC team. That's the thing that concerns me about the not giving maximum effort theory is that things like running routes is all about consistency. “That db” was vicari swain. In his defense the rain was heavy at that time and it’s easy to not find the ball in the lights when you look back with rain like that, which is what happened looked like to me.Yeah, I forgot to mention the DB giving up on his WR who scored the TD. The only problem with that though, is, do we have any control over the SEC schedule? Beamer says we now have 9-straight. I would guess no, and we have to work in OOC games around the conference schedule, set by the conference. That's the way I assume it is (I could be wrong).This. May be, I don't know. I still stand by my thought that P4 schools should not be allowed to play any non P4 schools. This is professional football now. Players should have to play against other players who are on their same level. The only problem with that though, is, do we have any control over the SEC schedule? Beamer says we now have 9-straight.
