Look at the damn video. Use your own eyes. It was there and that was the direction of the pass.
IMG_0365.jpeg

This is the exact moment of the INT. It’s too blurry to tell who anyone is, but the circled player is the target of the pass. The deep receiver at the 18-19 yard line is running a clear-out route so the circled receiver can sit down just inside the 25 and get a few more yards closer for the FG. At this moment, absolutely 17ing no one is “wide open for a TD”, nor should they be, because that wasn’t the play call when only down 2 points.

What you also can’t see from the still shot is that the intended receiver was coming to the middle of the field, and even if the pass wasn’t picked off by the DT it was going to be well behind the WR….and might have gotten picked by one of the 2 deep defenders. It was a really poor decision to do anything more than just set up the FG.

Nope, the guy 5 yards down field was. Had he caught it was six. Watch the field level shot from behind Shapen. Look at the trajectories of the receivers. No way the guy you circled is the target, If he had been it would have been behind the guy that picked it off. Look at interceptors hands And where he is running. Vs your guy. Try again, and look at the physics of the play. The dang ball ain’t even in the picture yet. Again, find the picture behind the ball. When Shapen threw it watching the TV shot live I was screaming the same things you are now. I was wrong then, and you are now.

Physics of the play? Good lord. OK. The ball was literally 8 feet off the ground at the damn line of scrimmage (where it got picked) after already traveling 5 yards. No way in hell was it traveling another 30 yards in the air at that trajectory to the sideline WR. You are beyond delusional.

And you’re still missing the biggest point of all. There is no reason, NONE, to even think about trying to score a TD in that situation. It’s nonsensical….like being down 1 in basketball and attempting an “open” halfcourt shot instead of a contested layup for the win.

We had already missed a FG, and the kicker, as had been pointed out earlier here during the game, had been shaky the last couple of games. NOW you idiots think he was automatic from wherever. Look at the vid from behind the play, we had a TD, and that was the intention. As unbelievable as it seems we had called the perfect play, and that that big dude from UF made one hell of a play. It happens sometimes, and it happens more times than not to a team that is trying to break out of the pit.

And yes, physics. Look at the trajectories of the various players involved.

I’m usually in optimist, but last night really brought me off the Lebby train. Yes, there were glimpses of what his offense could look like during the game, but most of the time, it was hard to watch. We have somehow managed to lose all of our momentum from the Arizona state game. It was just terrible decision making. Freaking Napier and Co we’re not about to drive down the field and score on our defense in under 30 seconds. Ridiculous.
