15 starters back from last year's team? You mean the same team that looked really good on paper due to a very weak schedule but then got exposed and humiliated by the one truly excellent team they played all year?
Ya because MSU wasn't an excellent team.

Iowa's best WR broke his foot and is done for the season so that really hurts.

I'm not comparing Iowa to Wisconsin right now. Iowa wouldn't want any part of that team right now. It was an example of how one week a team could look totally lost and still be a solid team. It's so hard to see how a team that returned 15 starters from last years team would come in this year and be worse. But alas, Kirk has done it before.
Curious for your opinion - SW. I live in Iowa and have followed the Hawkeyes (not as a fan, but an observer) for several years. Under KF, they appear to break out about every 5 years or so with a very good team (the exception is very good teams from 2002-2004). Then pull back substantially. About the time KF starts getting heat from the fan base and national commentators, they pull out one of those years. All is forgotten until the cycle repeats itself. Another observation is the QB's tend to regress under his watch in subsequent years. I'm not sure about Banks and Stanzi, but Tate, Ruddock did and Bethard appears to be going down the same path. Sorry to focus on the negative - but curious if you have seen these trends too?

These trends are well documented and we are afraid it's happening to CJ. Stanzi had something like 4 pick 6's in 2009 when Iowa was undefeated until he got hurt. He almost had as many INTs as TDs. Then 2010 had very high expectations with NFL talent than this current team. Stanzi had outstanding numbers. 20+ TDs and around 5 picks. Yet Iowa went 8-5.

The two do seem to coincide. Other factors have been the number of transfers that occurred that led to down years. Young talent seemed to leave after impressing early on.

Idk what this year will hold but if the last two games are any indication, the trend continues. Now with one of the weakest positions losing its top player, things are pretty dyer.

Thanks for your input. Sorry to hear about VB. We had a similar thing with DPE and you not only feel bad for the team, but the young man it impacts. Best wishes the remainder of the season (until Black Friday).

Well, we managed to beat them. I am not saying Iowa was not a good team last year. They were. But you were questioning how this year's team could, so far, be so much worse than last year's team, given the return of 15 starters. I offered an answer: because Iowa was not as good last year as their record would indicate. I apologize for the snarky tone of my original post. Uncalled for given your pleasant demeanor on our board.
But I still think Iowa was not as good last year as people think.
Oh, I am sad to hear about the injury. Truly. Never like to see that.

He said peep yo line AKA the Line app which is a private message app. I know Iowa is still 20 years behind in technology so I forgive your misinterpretation.
I got this second hand as I don't hang out on teenage boys twitter accounts-little creepy to follow random thoughts of children Life is to short to bother with this childish stuff

Because Iowa fans freaking out on twitter is hilarious that's why. You're right the two programs are not comparable. Nebraska is a Blue Blood and Iowa got their fake ID checked at the door.
come up with that yourself???
