I don't know if this is early commitment weekend but 4 MC players committed

DE Darin Graham to Wisconsin
OT Chase Clark to Oklahoma State
RB Nathan Samuels to Lindenwood
DB Isaac Saldana to South Dakota State.
I was hoping Illinois State would have gotten Samuels. Nice gets for those schools.
Rios the OT transfer into Rice who came from DePaul committed to San Diego State over weekend.
A couple of weeks prior to that the other OT Posey committed to Miami OH.
Amazing the amount of offers kids from MC, Rice and Loyola have in the Blue. I'm not seeing too much on Marist - I think they got a guy who has some FCS offers but not seeing level of other Blue schools. Rita has a couple of guys - their big incoming transfer committed to Michigan State. Laurence has Rice LB committed to Illinois

Typically you commit before the season starts. Practices start this week.

SDSU is a hell of a program.....and they also pay a pretty hefty cost of attendance which it's rivals in the State of Illinois do not (SIU/ISU)

It's a great program and the fact they play a somewhat "local" road schedule likely factored into it. He had an NIU offer (I saw him on his visit).

Saw a Rice DB committed to Iowa - kid mustve had a heck of a camp. He had some decent offers but this was first P4 and he jumped on. Insane the number off kids MC-LA-Rice have who have FBS level offers - most I can ever remember

I have the MC list if you want it. You can check the high profile kids twitter of instagrams too.
I think its a good move for Chase - Purdue is closeby and is in Big Ten. I think MC has at least 8 roster players formally committed and another 8 with FBS offers. Man that is a loaded team.

I would be surprised if any team scores a TD on them. No reason they should not run the table with that talent level on the field.

How many sacks did they have

I heard a lot of hype and obviously watched the East game (very impressive)

but was not sure about the rest of the season

Would you say that last years D lived up to the hype or do you think that their numbers fell short?
They didn't dominate every team they played. They beat Moeller by a point, Fenwick by a touchdown, and Loyola redux by less than a touchdown. However...

They beat the 7A and 6A champs
Were impenetrable in two goal line stands against Rice
Held Oswego to three first downs the whole game
Beat LA not once but twice
Made Jonas run around in a panic
And gave Z-man a running clock for his retirement gift

This is rarefied territory, visited by only three teams in state history: Murphysboro in 1947, the WIU Lab School in 1967, and the famous Pittsfield squad in 1970, who were all unbeaten, untied, and unscored upon. This was in the pre-playoff era, so it would be much harder now, but that doesn't take away from their accomplishment.

To my knowledge, only three teams in the playoff era have gone through the playoffs without giving up a point.
  • Decatur St Theresa 1975 2A
  • Joliet Catholic 1978 4A
  • Freeport Aquin 1981 1A

JCA's long and illustrious history includes that brilliant march through the playoffs in '78. However, the trifecta eluded them, which only shows how hard it is to be perfect for 14 games. Joliet Central, Joliet West, and Marian Catholic all scored on the Hilltoppers in the regular season. Oddly, the only record I found says that JCA played Marian Catholic twice that year, on 9/22 and 9/29. Do you know if this is accurate?

I wonder what the most clocked opponents ever was. 2014 Naz had 10 or 11.
I'm not questioning your memory or your math, but I had to look it up because, like everyone here, I love the history of this great game as much as its present. The Roadrunners won their first state title--also Racki's first at the school--in 2014 with an undefeated 14-0 season. But it doesn't look like Naz had 10 or 11 running clocks. As far as I can tell, six or seven is probably more like it. But hey, who's counting? It was still a great season with an impressive number of blowouts. And I may be wrong. The record isn't entirely forthcoming.

Topiary was at least half-serious, but this is a clickbait post.
Everything I post, serious as a heart attack, Jack. Have you not read my weekly reports on completely random teams during the season?

This is a legitimate question. MC is aiming for their 5th consecutive championship and seem to be getting stronger by the year. Last year's team was the most talented team ever in IL and they weren't seriously challenged by anyone within these borders despite only playing their A game once (as far as I could tell). That A game was the complete and total destruction of the one team that was supposed to give them a test with the best QB in state history (other than Bailey and a prior Williams). The MC offense returns except with an apparent upgrade at the signal caller, and the defense returns except a year older, bigger, stronger, and faster. I would say more but I may need to do a completely random official report during the playoffs...

I dont think 14 Tin Men is out of the question.

If anyone can run table with shutouts MC would be the best chance - granted would be tough with playing reserves for a full quarter each game or letting up a long bomb that gets tipped. i do think Rice though will be able to score - they got a really strong OL and 2 solid TEs, Strang the WR and Davis RB that could find way into endzone.
