Arod had surgery, sabathia was added late and already had a vacation planned with his family. Rivera is hurt, and jeter chose to rest after being injured for a big chunk of the last month. Why would they go out there and sit in the dug out if they arent playing?

players are hurt except CC, who was a late addition and he just pitched a CGSO Sunday. I find it funny that people bitching about Jeter making the AS team are now botching that he's not playing.

I would probably watch if the NL manager were to keep in his best players for most of the game so that if the Braves somehow make it to the World Series they would have home field. But no, they cycle the starters out after 3 innings tops and the pitchers barely have time to get into a groove.

wrong! Bochy is making Washington his ***** once again. I love that this game has home field riding on it. You can tell the National League is taking it very serious.

If I were a player and I were selected, I'd pass too. It's a long season and a short vacation would be nice. I hate the Yankees, but I can't hold this against them.

agree with you. When the NL wins the world series again I bet the AL will have a new interest in winning the All-Star game next year. Home field advantage is hardly irrelevant.

In Game 7 of the WS, the home team is 18-17 lifetime. Not much of an advantage. And in fact, if the series only goes 5 games, the AL will have the "home field advantage" this year. If it goes 4 or 6, neither league will.</p>

is the one that bothers me. You think ANY of the other 28 members of the 3,000 club would of skipped the All-Star game? The baseball world was drooling to watch Mr. Yankee and give him the credit he deserves but he doesn't even show up!! What a dick.

Jeter has been injured and decided to rest up for the second half.

But you are right, the yankees players should have taken the all star game more serious and shown up for it, even though they weren't playing in it. Just another case of blind hate for the Yankees .

He could've atleast gone and participated in the festivities in a walking boot or something. An appearance by him is all that most people are asking.

flying roundtrip cross-country when injured isn't exactly an easy, pleasant, or restful trip. even if it's on a private jet.<div>
</div><div>i hate the yankees, but i don't blame him for not showing up all things considered. he isn't 25 anymore. he can't sit on a plan for ~10 hours or so roundtrip over a 2 day span simply to wave to the crowd and not expect it to affect the continued rehabilitation of his injured leg.</div>

As a Yankees fan I would much rather he stay in NY or Florida or wherever and just rest up

As this article reminds us of the obvious, there's a Game 1 100% of the time.

The team that wins Game 1 goes on to win the World Series 62 percent of the time...

The winner of Game 1 has won seven of the past eight World Series. And 12 of the past 14.
Since the strike in 1994, the teamgiven "home field advantage" has won 12 of the 16 World Series.

I'd say it means something.

5 for 5. He should of been playing in the All-Star game. End of story. Jose Reyes was there, he's hurt. He plays for the NEW YORK Mets.

He flew to Miami for the weekend. So, obviously he wasn't worried about travel messing with his rehab.<div>
</div><div>I don't think not going makes him the worst person in the world, or even a dick as someone else said, but I do think he should have been there.</div>

eh, i just think there are so many things to ***** and moan about, that this is so far down the list, it's completely off my radar. not a yankee or even a jeter fan, but if this is the worst thing the guys does in his career, then it's probably worth letting it slide.

objective. You're just letting your blind hatred for the Yankees get in the way. Everyone raised hell that he made the team. Now, those same people are raising hell that he isn't on it? It's become a lose lose situation. How many players have shown up in the history of the All-Star game who were hurt? I have no clue, but I would venture to guess it's a small percentage compared to those that had not.</p>

And I'm not trying to say he should've or shouldn't have gone... but saying he was injured and unable to play is simply incorrect. He played Sunday. He's healthy enough to participate.

If he's truly worried about getting rest during the break, then he wouldn't have gone to Miami to have wild orgies with supermodels.

As far as A-Rod not going... that's fine. He just had surgery.

CC wasn't selected and pitched a complete game on Sunday. I've got no problem with that...

Jeter, on the other hand, doesn't have a great excuse. He just didn't go because he didn't feel like it. That's not a good way to treat the fans.

he played Sunday doesn't mean he isn't injured. Come on now, you are letting your cardinal homer-ism and jealousy for the Yankees get the better of you. The guy was hurt. He played through his injuries this past week during regular season games (what count), obviously. He had a chance to rest up (during a game that didn't count and that y'all didn't want him at) and took it. What's the big deal? Again, the same people bitching at him for not showing up are the same ones that bitched for him being selected. So essentially, they got their way, but still aren't happy. It just speaks to their jealousy of the Yankees, I guess.

the Yankees. I'm a Giants fan. I usually hate the Dodgers but they are a shell right now. Phillies and Braves are the two teams I dislike right now only because they are the Giants biggest competition. I think Jeter deserves to be the starting shortstop in the All-Star game and I think it's completely selfish of him to not attend. Especially since he just got 3,000 hits and the whole baseball world wants to celebrate that. He got it on Saturday. The fans voted you in the all-star game that takes place 3 days later!! Show up and thank everyone. He's a dick!

You think he is a dick. You win. Here's what Carlos Beltran, possibly a new Giant's OF any day now, had to say on the situation.

But for those players who have injuries, sometimes they prefer to get the rest and take treatments and try to get better for the season
I guess the player that the Giant's are going after is being a dick too, huh? Also, what about the other 3 Yankees that are hurt? Are they dicks as well, or were just talking about something you knew nothing about?

started and batted 2nd. I'm not sure what he has to do with this? I had the wrong heading for this thread. I'm sorry, it's about Jeter not being there, not the other hurt players who didn't attend. Imagine for a second without your Yankee glasses on if 3 days after Hank Aaron broke Babe Ruth's record he didn't show up for his fan voted All-Star appearance. Well no Yankee has ever hit 3,000 hits till last Saturday. Jeter owes it to baseball and the fans to show up for the game right after he gets that milestone achievement. He is a dick for not even showing up.

if I have to explain what he has to do with this, then you probably won't get it anyway. I'll try. You are of the opinion that Jeter should be there, even if he's hurt, apparently. You say Jeter is a dick for not being there. WellBeltran is of the opinion that Jeter doesn't have to be there, if he is hurt. Also, since you were wrong on the other players and had no idea what you were talking about, is it possible you are wrong on Jeter, too? Also, what about all of the other players, there were a bunch, that didn't make the game? Are they dicks as well, or is your blind hate for the Yankees forming your opinion? Lastly, to your question about Aaron. I wouldn't really care. It's his decision. If he was hurt and wanted to rest during the break, I wouldn't have a problem with it. You're making a mountain out of a molehill and it's due to your blind hatred.

wasn't a "bunch" of other players picked that didn't show. 5 out of the 84 selected didn't attend. I conceited the other 4. Not Jeter because he isn't hurt. He was hurt. Then he played all last week including going 5 for 5 three days prior to the All-Star game. If he had gotten the 3,000 hit in an away stadium the game would of stopped and everyone in that stadium would of stood and cheered him. Then he would of had a celebration in Yankee stadium the first game back. By not showing at the All-Star game he robbed all of us of that moment. How do you not see that as a selfish act?

I must commend you, Doctor, because you (from over one thousand miles away, I'm guessing) are the only one on this planet that thinks Jeter is healthy. Don't give me that BS about away team fans wanting to see him to honor his 3000 hits. Everyone hates the Yankees. Some of them even hate Jeter, for no legit reason. Hell look at this thread. That is just a load of ****.
