4 runs is probably enough to beat us the way we're hitting.

And I guess we are going to just keep pitching Reed until his arm literally falls the 17 off.

haven't been here lately? Then there were folks saying that we were a good hitting team, just look at our b.a. and that average was the more important stat versus runs scored........

improve from series to series and as we got our injured guys back. I was wrong though, we seem to be getting worse. This is frustrating, especially when a majority of our miscues result from coaching decisions like steals, hit and runs, and pitching selections (like today with Reed). The injuries and youth really were something that you had to take notice of, but now we're over half way into the year and we have our injured guys back, yet the production is as bad or worse. Cohen has been over-managing badly, and unless he is going to start Coaching small ball better, he may want to start getting away from small ball when it comes to recruiting, and start recruiting someone that can hit the ball out of the 17ing infield. I don't want Cohen fired or anything, but he needs to get this offense going

Said we could hit and as our injured guys get back, it appears we can hit. Norris is back and has jumped back in with his bat and we have not had a bad weekend of hitting the ball. I said all along we are not a power hitting team but that we would be a good contact hitting team.

The injuries really hurt because those guys getting back are not seeing the ball as well as they would be if they had not spent weeks on the bench. We are coming back.

Obviously when I originally said it I was not talking about having all these injuries and saying that the backup freshmen or sophs who had never seen SEC pitching. I never expected them to have to bat.

Edited to add: I never said that average was more important than runs scored, that is a crazy statement.

what team could hit the ball better. It takes walks and steals out of the equation. It takes out sacrifices. It also takes out errors made. The downside is that it takes out extra base hits.

Don't worry. I was using it as an argument to say that our hittersare much worse than people think. Considering we are the worst hitting team in conference play, we actually do pretty well putting up runs.

No one ever made the argument that batting average is more important than runs scored. I made the argument thatbatting averageshows which team is a better pure hitting team.

As always happens on this board, people were trying to twist my words to say something that I wasn't or misreading my post entirely.

No one said anything about batting average being more important than runs scored.
