I'm not sure who to be for. I always pull for the State guys but this is gonna be tough.

I’m pulling for the team that doesn’t have AJ Brown on it. Final answer. Screw AJ and the horse he rode in on. I’ll pull for Chris Jones and Willie Gay-they may not win but that’s my team for 2 Sundays from now…

So to recap, number of SEC (uninjured) starters by college (disqualifying Hurts since he transferred).

MSU- 4
Florida- 4
Georgia- 4
Bama- 3
Auburn- 2
UT - 1
UK- 1
Missouri- 1
Mississippi- 1

Some high cotton we're in there. We should market the hell out of this for recruiting purposes. And just wow at the SEC dominance on this list. The toughness of our competition is off the charts.

ETA- How many of those starters are currently or have ever been Pro Bowlers? Pretty sure I know who would win that contest. Of course I know none of ours will get to participate in the Manning flag football game. I'm sure they are torn up about that. Lol.

It's crazy how many players have a connection to Mississippi when you add in Brown, Minshew, Nakobe Dean, and Gainwell.

Brown and Gay even played HS together. I wonder how many other high schools can say they have two players in the same Super Bowl? I guess obviously the Kelce brothers this year. But that's got to be pretty unique.

MSU with the most dominant player in the game last night and most likely for the super bowl. Eagles will double him most of the game but I think Jones get 3 sacks anyway, 1 sack will be a key moment.

Slay will also pick off Mahomes.

Yazoo County HS can say that this year with Cox & Gainwell and they're on the same team.

CJ isn't gunna get 3 sacks in the SB. 1 probably...2 mmmm, possibly but I don't think so. 3? Nope.

Hope Big Play can get an INT.

I tend to agree with you. 3 is a tall order for anyone but he could get 1-2 and another cheap one if he's on the edge and reads a Hurts RPO keeper. Is that considered a sack because it's the QB with the ball or just a TFL?

That's just a tackle for loss. Jones will be doing damn good to get 1 sack in the SB. He'll be double teamed all night long and Hurts is a mobile QB.

The Eagles O line seems to be much better than the Bengals. Still, you gotta hope Jones can find a way.

12 players from the Sip, add Minshew, Cameron Tom and Davion Taylor to this list. 11.3% of the players on the two rosters are from a state that encompasses only 1% of the US population.

I was thinking that but didn't know for sure. Now if pressure flushes the QB and he scrambles but is caught behind the line then that is still a sack right? Either way I always thought TFLs were underrated. They can be as impactful as a sack but don't get the stat line respect like a sack.

Right. If the QB drops back to pass and scrambles, that's still a sack. Agree about TFLs. They're huge whether it's a sack or not. Also, I think QB hurries is an underrated stat.
