Awe damn… I’ve always had it in my head that it premiered in ‘85.
Feels like I just lost a year off my life.

I tell my kids… if you wonder how talented Phil Collins is (hey, he’s not dead yet..) just know that despite being a short, bald, pasty white British dude he became one of the biggest music icons of a generation and is forever associated with a show set on South Beach in Miami, FL.
He also played Phil the Shill in a episode
We had In The Air Tonight on full blast after beating Texas in 91. Rolled slowly through Texas tailgaters with the old MTX box blasting. The party was on that day.
People forget just how groundbreaking of a show this was. Up until that point, plenty of tv show would just end with a freeze frame and start rolling credits with canned music or overly used laugh tracks. That whole opening sequence with the soundtrack music and fast cuts and that Brazilian hottie bouncing her ta-tas was must see tv.
Interesting Tom Selleck trivia. He was on former Bulldog coach Bob Boyd’s first USC basketball team. Career stats. 3 games. 1 rebound. Not much of a shooter. 0-3 from the field & 0-3 from the free throw line. Ouch.
