I'm not making excuses for Chancellor but wasn't the JR game the week they played on a Monday night and turned around and played @ JR that Friday? I can understand if they put all their preparations into that Courtland game that Monday considering it was a rivalry game. Not sure but also I believe Chancellor was up on JR 21-0 or something if I read it right. Regardless I think Chancellor is a very good team. Even I had doubts about their defense in the beginning of the season but it looks like it has came a long way.

Chancellor played @ JR on Monday and Courtland on Friday. Short week but they should have been ready for JR. It just wasn't a good performance for the Chargers. But you have to give it to JR. They're a good football team in their own right and they did what good teams do.

Yeah but here is James River's losses
TD 33-9
Bird 41-7
Mon 42-0
Freeman - 31-14.
With the exception of Bird none of the other losses are to teams in the top 5 in the Richmond area. JR beat Chancellor 44-21 I think?
But if your telling me it was just a bad bad game... based on your performance against Powhatan, I'm back on the train!

Don't think it really matters what has been done in any other game this year. Different atmosphere and mindset with this one. I'm. Looking for a great game decided in the 4th.

#55 had a medical diagnosis of pneumonia. Yes, #20 is a db.

#20 is a DB. 55 had actual pneumonia or was sick? Like I said he played in the game in both halves just not every play. #9 and 59 are pretty interchangeable. I think they have just gotten better over the season like good teams do. They are certainly a very good defense either way.

A loss is a loss is a loss. Game one, we were out played and coached versus EV. EV deserves credit for "toughing-it-out" and through to the end of the game. They overcame their own mistakes for the win. They won and we lost, no more plain way to put it.

Easy big guy. I get it, EV didn't beat Chancellor. They were hurt, they were out. Gotcha. I'm not disagreeing that they are a very good team. I just think it is being over sensationalized about why they lost to EV. This will be a good playoff game for many reasons. I think these two teams are pretty similar in style and athletes. You have good O Lines going up against good D lines. DB's. WR's etc. All pretty good match ups. EJ stands out for sure. I do recognize on paper the better team appears to be Chancellor but not by much. As always, any game can change on turnovers and emotions. Both teams probably have several players who aren't 100% at this time in the season, most teams do. I think the coaches will decide this one.

I think the players for EV will have something to prove considering Hatfield didn't get coach of the year or even co-coach of the year. Oliver from Chancellor and Fischer of Louisa were co-coaches of the year for Conf 19. I think Hatfield got snubbed honestly.

This has more to do with the teams in the conf. EV doesn't play teams in the conf (until next year). The players get slighted too. Not sure how the CO players of the year are both from chancellor. Diago probably deserved a piece of that. But that's ok, I'm sure Hatfield is enjoying the winning and more worried about beating the unstoppable Chancellor O and D.

Chancellor doesn't have an unstoppable O and D. No one does. The last time I looked into this type of stuff, selection of players is among the coaching staffs and involved looking at individual numbers and voting. Not sure how it ended up the way it is, but maybe checking with the EV staff may shed some light. I am sure they were represented when the selection took place.

Yes that's why when you don't play those teams it hurts in the selection process. Chancllor, Courtland, KG all play three other teams in the conf. Louisa played two other. So more coaches got to see those kids play. I understand that. The coaching selection is a bit puzzling though. Chancellor was a pre-season favorite that lost to two teams everyone thought they should beat. EV was predicted 8-2, 7-3 by most people. They went 10-0. One team has 2-3 D1 Seniors, the other (EV) probably doesn't have a senior going D1. But in the end this is nice for the kids, these awards, I'm not sure the coaches care too much about winning one or not. I think Hat has won a few already. On the "unstoppable", sorry about that, I thought I read that somewhere that they were unstoppable. I feel better about Friday knowing that wasn't true.

Just having a little fun :)

I completely understand. I tried to make sense of the process years ago and decided it was one of those things to leave to the coaching staffs.

I've been watching Chancellor and the Battlefield district for 17 seasons now. From what I have seen, there is no unstoppable anything! We are talking high school and the minute you think you know what your talking about, you get proven wrong! ha I will say this though, this Friday night, on the Cyclones field, there is going to been very good football game and thats what I absolutely LOVE! I pray for no injuries, little to no smack talk on the field that results in personal fouls, and for the them to congratulate each other when its over knowing they both left it all on the field. The winner will be better prepared for what is ahead of them.

EV had 15 players on the all conference teams, and Coach Hat definitely earned COY honors. There was a movement by some to award the COY to Oliver and Fisher out of respect due to their health concerns, and Hatfield was not going to stand in the way of that, so he declined the nomination out of respect for the other 2 coaches.

So now that sheds light on something else... is this Olivers last year? Is Fischer stepping down? Interesting
