Can anyone out east challenge Reidsville?West Craven, East Duplin?
In the West I'd say Brevard is favorite and more than likely going to have home field advantage which will help them. But there seems to be more contenders in the West.
Brevard is good and they definitely have some speed and playmakers but I think a few hard running teams can cause them issues. Franklin gave them problems all night and Brevard really couldn’t adjust for it. The Reynolds victory doesn’t hold as much weight as it did week1 due to seeing how down that ACR truly is. I think Burns, Pisgah, and Maiden all have the backs in their backfield to have a good game plan for Brevard. There may be others. All of them may lose to Brevard but they have the personnel it would take to beat them.

Pisgah’s week 1, and our early self-inflicted wounds, combined with Brevard’s week 1 made me think we would struggle to stay on the field with them. Our improvements and seeing Brevard on tape makes me feel better about the matchup.

Having seen Brevard this year, their issue is that they have not put a full "four quarters" together. You could make the argument that Franklin did not play their best game, but neither did Brevard. Last year's team hit their stride around this timeframe. At some point, they will put a full game together, just not sure when it is coming. If they don't, then they could take two losses before playoffs even begin. The defense is a little more "porous" than last years but they still make good adjustments as the game goes on. That's a credit to Luke as he is calling the defense.

From what I have seen of them this year, yes, they can be had if they start off slow. But man when that offense is humming (and no disrespect to any team in the mountains) I don't think there is a defense west of Cleveland County that is keeping them under 30. They are just so athletic this year with tons of speed. That includes their "bulldozer" at tailback that has not played the last few weeks.

The Tuscola, WH, and Pisgah games will tell Brevard where they are at going into the playoffs. If they come out of those games playing well and cleanup some of the complacency, they are going to be a tough out and would be favored to reach the regional finals again. This may be there best year to take that next step.

And since we are keeping it "all in fun", I think everyone in Brevard and Canton knows that Luke is going to throw everything he's got, including the "kitchen sink", to get a win against Pisgah. It will never be Pisgah/Tuscola, but it is still one of the best and most historical rivalries in the mountains.

I told Luke last year I hoped he won every game but one.He said I hope the same thing for Pisgah.

FWIW, I love ending the regular season with Brevard like it was in the past. It will make for a good Halloween evening this year.

From the games ive watched this year with this Brevard squad they have yet to have a complete game a lot of games have been flat either 1st half or 2nd but what im most impressed with is the composure of the kids they don't panick when things dont go there way they're very coachable and make adjustments well. And I think they're really just now starting to tap in to they're potential and it'll be fun to see how those last 3 games go. And definitely hoping to be pisgahs nightmare on Halloween just to have some fun talking crap with all the guys i worked with at the mill lol
