I wouldn't mind a 3rd round trip to Hibtiten. Burns has played well up there the last 2 trips.
Yall can go play somewhere else lol. That 2020 spring game still hurts. We had a state championship caliber team that year. Yall did too and probably win it if your QB was healthy.

That was the 13-12 game right? Burns lost 10-7 to Salisbury on a 50 something yard FG as time ran out the next week. Salisbury went on to win the championship. Burns actually started a freshman QB against Salisbury (Ben Mauney). He went on to set a new Cleveland County passing yards record.

I'm guessing that last game Brevard vs Pisgah will see how Pisgah stands up
Odds are good, we’re going to try to be stingy with the ball like a fat kid with his Halloween candy. It’ll either work or it won’t. We look like an old school 1a offense with a kid that packs a load at RB. There’s very little mystery to us.

Us and Brevard will be pretty close to opposites.

Brevard is big upfront it will be interesting to see if our offence can move them so 22 can run against them.If he can we can control the ball and win.Brevard likes to throw the ball, and we have a pretty good pass defense.Should be a good game .

Pisgah is averaging almost 32 points a contest and giving up 22 points a contest in conference play.

Brevard is averaging 45 points a contest and giving up 18 in conference play.

Throw the record books out when these two play because it is traditionally a slug fest but I will stick with Brevard on this one. Specifically, Pisgah, Franklin and West have had tremendous rushing attacks this year. Although Brevard has opened it up through the air this year, their offense is still predicated from their rushing attack. That rushing combo of Braylon Thompson and Nyrell Skinner is really, really good. The top (4) teams in the conference are fairly equal across the board but I think the difference is that Brevard has the ability to score in quick bursts. Their balance has been really good this year.

Another factor maybe the injury that occurred last week. I had talked earlier about Brevard playing all (4) quarters and not coming out with complacency. As unfortunate as the injury was, I think you may see a different Brevard team moving forward from a focus standpoint. I think the "switch flipped" late in the game last week and we may see a pretty determined group of kids moving forward. Again, it is Friday Night football during late October in the mountains of Western North Carolina. So anything can happen but I don't see them losing before they get deep into the playoffs.

I hope you are correct with Brevard's focus. They have to find a way now to get Conly some rest so he isn't so fatigued in the second half.

#3 stepped up and shared the snaps with Conley when kessinger got hurt last Friday so I expect we will see more of that this Friday

Wasn't there a real western team a long time ago that made the playoffs but the only way they could get them in was put them in east

Can recall Whiteville being in the west and having to play Owen there, in Buncombe County. The guys down east are probably used to traveling long distances for games.

A little off topic, but until maybe the 1990’s, championship games were played in the east one year and in the west the next year.
I remember the 1986 state 3A championship in which Havelock came to Shelby, a distance of over 300 miles.

So what does everyone think about the projected bracket?

I have Reidsville vs Maiden
I think Reidsville is clear favorites from the East. I want to see outcome of Maidens 2 last games, Pisgah v Brevard and Burns v Shelby. I think Hibriten could play with any of those teams but our defense going to have to play a little better.

Yes, all the teams you named will be in the mix. Besides maybe Pisagah. I think Stuart Cramer can come out the west as well

Here's questions that I don't know answers to. I'm familiar with the Southern Piedmont teams so I'll start there...
Burns has Highland and Shelby left. They'll obviously beat Highland, does that hurt or help the RPI since its 40-40-20? Shelby would seem to help no matter the outcome.
Cramer has Cherryville and East Gaston left. I would imagine they're favored in both those matchups, but the question is still the same. Do those games hurt their RPI no matter what?
EG has West Lincoln and Cramer left. Let's say they pull an upset off versus West Lincoln does that get them in?

All of that may be hard to follow. It all confuses me.

The team in the East everyone is going to hate going up against is Central Davidson. That offense is hard to prepare for and eats the clock up.

Highland tech is an RPI anchor and Shelby is usually a RPI rocket. But this year their record is mediocre so not as big RPI help as normal

Do you think thank wins against Cherryville and East Gaston will kick Cramer out of home bye scenarios? Math never was my strong subject.
Very good chance it moves you out of the top 8. anything can happen though....you're immediate RPI threat is North Surry, you just need them to lose at least one if not both of their last 2 games.

Would be like when we played West Lincoln they slow game down and eat clock. And West Stokes would just be another lowman vs maiden game
I think CD runs double wing T and this year they have athletes. They hide the ball well. Lowman has some guys back from injury and made some changes that worked. East Surry was not ready for it. See how it goes at North Surry this week

I’m not saying you’re wrong, just wondering what you’re seeing in Pisgah that makes them appear out of the equation compared to Hibriten, Burns, Stuart Cramer, and Maiden

I don’t think they are totally out of it . I can see them beating some of those teams. I just don’t see states. But the brevard game will tell a lot.

Pisgah traveled to Havelock in 75 to win the state championship and played Clinton in Canton 76 and won. I think they should still do it that way. They were over 5000 Pisgah fans at Havelock and Clinton had a pretty good crowd when they played here.
