What a joke. NCHSAA has denied its about money but how can it not be when you allow teams with 2 wins into the playoffs. One day someone with common sense will establish a system where only the best teams are rewarded with postseason play. Looking at this proposed bracket I'd say no more than 16 of those teams deserve to be in.

I would think 6 classes and 32 teams a class making the playoffs is enough. That is still 192 schools making the playoffs out of the 389 football playing schools. So that is 49.357% of the schools. That is more than enough. I think that number would work for all sports too.

I would say you could probably do less than that though, since we have 8 classifications, I think 16 per classification is plenty. That is still 128 (football) schools, so 33%. I would say that playoffs should have no more than 33% of the schools, but also should not fall below 25%.

I think playoffs are too long as a lot of kids play multiple sports.

any teams make playoffs but I think basketball ball season should be pushed back till after football championship done. It's an indoor sport where weather doesn't play a part. Would help to keep kids attention on what's in front of them instead of dividing it

It kind of goes hand and hand. If less teams made the playoffs, we could shorten it a week. If you push basketball out, you end up pushing spring sports out too. Not to mention, weather does play a role some what, especially in the western part. If schools are out for weather, you can't have games. Take away a round of football playoffs, as well as basketball.

I know people will argue that kids want to play that extra game, but no one wants to travel a couple hours to lose 60-0, not the players, coaches or parents. Nor does anyone (school admin, coaches, players) want to get ready for a game that is going to be 60-0. It's hard to believe that the first round of the watered down playoffs actually make money.
