Thanks for the updatesBall game.
SWE 7 0 6 20 = 33
WP 0 20 6 0 = 26
I cannot understand why you all went for two, but I sure cannot understand why they didn’t punt and make you guys drive the length of the field
Their stud got kicked out. #6 was eating us up, but he was too cocky. Coming to our sideline when our QB was trying to talk to coaches.... dancing....talking smack. That's what got him kicked out....two unsportsmanlikes.Wilson prep choked hard
With tarboro gone they'll more than likely go to states next four years. #6 for them is good gotta tone down the trash talk. That could definitely hurt Wilson prep later onWP was the biggest team we've seen so far. And they are just about unstoppable when #6 just takes off at the snap. But they need to get him under control. As long as they do what they were doing tonight, it makes no sense to not just hand them the 1A Eastern championship right now. And boy, were they dropping us. We had many players limp off the field at times.
But recovering the kick off 3 times in a game and still losing is something I didn't think I'll ever see again.
That’s typical Wilson Prep.Watched last few minutes on NFHS. Cannot understand SWE going for 2 after tying it up and even harder to understand WP rationale for not punting.
WP appeared very undisciplined with players having to be separated after SWE had taken the lead and frustration showing.
Game looked like something that happens on a playground.
I don't know. But they need to stop saying that they want Tarboro and SWE and just stick with North Edgecombe lol.I wonder what excuse their coach will have this week?
Here you go lol.I wonder what excuse their coach will have this week?
24 penalties is insane. I've seen some BAD referees over the years, but getting that many penalties called eventually becomes a coaching problem. This definitely sounds like him lol. He said in regards to last year, Tarboro wasn't 53 points better than us.Here you go lol.
Per The Wilson Times:
"Wilson Prep powered for 356 rushing yards, but didn’t help itself by being assessed for a whopping 24 penalties that produced an angry 215 yards that often stalled momentum. SouthWest’s nine violations totaled 70 yards. Dickens said a copy of the game film will be headed to the local referee booking agent."
Blaming the refs for them being undisciplined.
“Our young guys thought we only played a half,” Dickens said. “That’s youth and immaturity for you.”
Very senior heavy team. All of their statistical leaders are seniors.
"Wilson Prep’s head coach also fretted over a lack of discipline. One player was ejected, another disqualified for the remainder of the game and a third walked off the field."
Lack of control by the coach.
“When I saw the young guys jumping around, I knew we were in trouble,” he explained.
Referring to the cockiness I eluded to.
And SWE's coach concerning going for two after tying the game:
“I can’t believe that all my coaches let me call that play,” Varnell expressed. “But the snapper said the ball was wet and didn’t feel comfortable about the snap in trying to kick the extra point."
A lot of those penalties were for illegal shift. Either they weren't set at the snap, or the motion man headed upfield before the snap. That's on them 100%. Just like our holding penalties. We are having more holdings called on us than I've ever seen. But as for last night, we had way more flags than the article/stats indicate. There was no flow to the game. When I spoke to the white hat in the parking lot about the number of flags, he said that this was his second game at WP, and both games were 3 hours long due to the amount of penalties called. The common factor seems to be WP.24 penalties is insane. I've seen some BAD referees over the years, but getting that many penalties called eventually becomes a coaching problem. This definitely sounds like him lol. He said in regards to last year, Tarboro wasn't 53 points better than us.
Idk. Isn't the home team responsible for the game balls? That's what I've always assumed, but that's just my thoughts. I don't know if it's true or not. If so, I don't think I would have a dry ball available for the opposition's offense lol. But I'm sure I've seen refs dry balls off with their towels before. Didn't see that last night for either team.Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't you allowed to change balls on a kicking play if requested?
