I have also had 40+ volunteer coaches before and none of them were reimbursed for "training"

How many of these coaches get woke up in the middle of the night to keep someone alive until paramedics arrive? Are these coaches first on the scene to pull people from wreckage after a storm? Crawling up a ladder in a blizzard to crawl on an icy roof?

I have to take the same training they do.

You know that, right?

You take jaws of life training as a bowling coach? You have grain bin rescue training as a coach? Haha Yeah, we're all certified in CPR. Some actually have to save lives. You think taking your manadory coach training is the same as waking up in the middle of the night and trying to save people that were in a head on collison?

What does that even mean. You have people that risk their lives for others, those people are heros. It doesn't matter if they have great marketing and a great union like firemen and run into burning buildings or if they a train for years at their job in the military to keep this country safe and free. Then you have guys like that one, who, I believe, sits on his phone or on a laptop talking **** about people who do risk their lives. Definition of a keyboard warrior, talks a lot of ****, but when and if called to be a hero, would run the opposite direction, trampling the women and children on his way to safety.
George Costanza Fire GIF

I don't think the only options are;
1) Heroes or
2) **** those guys.

I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree. In my opinion, being a firefighter doesn't automatically make you a hero.

To answer your first question, here is how I took the conversation.

Super: Firefighter aren't always heroes because they're not always risking their lives.
You: Oh, so f--- those in the military because they're not always risking their lives?
Me: There are other feelings about a particular occupation other than "hero" or "f--- 'em".

Maybe I'm wrong in how it went down?

idk, seems like it would answer a run pass qb question fast..but then lateef would probably bolt leaving depth a issue
That's not a reason for an individual to pay $5 million for a player on his favorite college football team. That we even mention this as reasonable is crazy to me. But I guess maybe this is just how it is in 2025. It would go a long way towards explaining why college football is becoming less and less interesting.

The post was in response to him insinuating that since they don't fight fires their entire shift then that makes their job easy and they are overpaid. So I used the US military fighter as an example of someone that isn't in battle 8 hours each day, but they are damn sure heros because they are ready, willing and able to go into battle at a moments notice, just as a firefighter is ready at a moments notice to go into the building when it is on fire.

He is a **** talker, that would be the first to call 911 when his house is on fire, and kiss the feet of the men and women that saved his house from destruction.

I guess I saw #1 where you saw #2.

It was one of the very first things you brought up!

1. How they are all heroes
2. How they are always running into burning buildings.

How did this turn into a beef with firemen? Ever watch flames shoot out of your roof? You'll think they're worth every penny when its your home.
On a dark cold eainy windy nite they went into my & others back yrd because a power line was broke, sparking & had to be fixed. It could be vert dangerous I told my Mary &: they train for this. Yes, it had to be done. Thank goodness for da firemen & firewomen that do it 🙌

He’ll get more than a million per year.
He should because Chiles NIL is 847K, and he's marginal at best. I don't think any school should pay top dollar if the kid isn't even a starter like some of those kids who expect big NIL deals.

Dylan needs to land in the perfect spot for him, for his skill set. I've said there are multiple big schools that just are not gonna be interested in him due to lack of mobility, pocket presence, etc those things
we've all talked about. They're not gonna change their offensive philosophy just to sign him. Either he fits in their system or he doesn't.

I think the link to the whole QB thing is the Oregon QB. If he comes back, that shuts the door on a couple fits, and if he declares, then Oregon is gonna be ready to throw a bag of cash as whoever they decide they need.

I was interested in watching Mestermaker from North Texas and came away with mixed feelings on the kid. He's new to the QB position, but with the right type of coaching he could be a total difference maker for an Indiana or other top programs looking for a real diamond in the rough.

It will be interesting and either exciting or depressing who NU winds up with. They can't afford to miss on this one cause whoever it is, isn't gonna come cheap.

Portal day is the new “signing day”. It’s going to be interesting to see where guys land. The odds of us signing difference makers from the portal though no matter how much we offer to pay, are very small. We’re just not that attractive right now.

I agree. From the list of kids they seem to be courting, I don't see a real stud in the whole bunch.

they sleep 3 days at the firehouse then have 4 days to do their real job, then they had the nerve to panhandle with fireboots
Yeah I get tired of people acting like certain professions make people worthy of worship. You do a job because hopefully you care to do it well. Physicians save far more people every year than firemen, but society has mixed attitudes toward them, mostly because they are well paid. Lifeguards also save a lot of people but people focus more on their stereotyped looks than their lifesaving skills. 99% of service members are doing a job and an important one. But few have to do anything heroic. Yes we should give them multiple benefits (free tuition, etc), but they are making a commitment to do a service for benefits that come with it. My son was considering entering the air force but due to circumstances out of his control they wouldn't admit him. Does that make him lesser for going to college instead?

I suppose alot of things depend on who's saying things and why. I have no problem with folks in the service, firemen, police, teachers etc. they all serve a purpose..but I suppose you could get some bad apples in them professions also..it's a fallen world

Top portal guys are looking for the situation that enhances their draft chances. A QB wants to go a team that’s going to help them be an early round draft pick. A couple of million dollars in college is chump change for an early round NFL QB. We can offer more money and still not sign guys with NFL aspirations…which is pretty much all the guys we would want.

If that's your way to defend the product at NU, you're doing a piss poor job.

He should not get $5 million but don't underestimate the wild west mentality of college football. All it will take is the right two teams to want him. Hell Iowa spent $2.5 million on the guy from South Dakota State.
No…reports are that Iowa “only” spent about $1 million for Gronowski this year.

when you consider that QB1 for the 2-14 LV Raiders makes nearly a guaranteed 40 million a year it makes you pause.

Not really. That QB is a professional in a league that makes billions and revenue-shares. Is that what you want the NCAA to become?
