A verbal commitment is not a binding agreement.
I'm not sure informing State fans of that fact is really necessary at this point.

he is not ready to "step in" and somewhat overrated. He hopes us to lean on a smooth Michael Ignerski type playmaker

If the NBA lockout happens, Dee and Renardo will both be forced to come back unless they want to go play overseas. If the lockout happens, some schools will have to cut players if they assumed someone would leave for the draft and signed someone to their spot. Recruiting could be interesting this year with something extra to think about

Mississippi State coach Rick Stansbury's plan worked to perfection. After making it a top priority to keep Rodney Hood
(Meridan, Miss./Meridan), who's No. 30 in the ESPNU 100, at home, it
paid off when the four-star shooting guard committed to the Bulldogs
over Louisville and FSU.

Hood joins PG Deville Smith
(Madison, Miss./Callaway), who's No. 40 in the ESPNU 100, to give the
Bulldogs a nice backcourt of the future and lift them into the top 25
class rankings.

With Mississippi State sliding into the rankings, Illinois slips
out. Keep checking back, because there is plenty of time for these
rankings to chang.

Bryan has little to do with basketball if anything. I can assure you Kirby is throwing the book and bank at Adams because he has gone 0-4 so far and the kid might just want to stay home and play with some outstanding recruits here. I would think Gardner might go ahead and commit to Memphis but his mom enjoyed her stay in Starkville and it is close to home. If we get either Gardner or Adams, we have had a great class.

and the Bryan comment is a Sixpack joke George Burns...its code for something else

I know that Kirby is throwing everything at Adams. And if you think all we are offering is a LOI and the chance to hang out on the bench with !%%@!%@!@+!'s kids, then you probably think Russell has a stronger arm than Ralph too

seriously?

I did find it interesting at first, and then quickly realized most voters on Sixpack would vote against anything I said, so it wasn't any shock at all. I could have a poll saying our record is 6-2 and have 2-6 as the other option, and many on here would still choose 2-6.

Just as you realized years ago you were wrong about the Spread being a fad and wouldnt work in the SEC, you'll figure out you were wrong about this as well

A few weeks ago when the thread about Hood and Co. choices were being discussed, c34 posted that Hood wanted out (checked that) apparently want out of Mississippi. Ask for links or sources none was presented. Need to dump those sources and a few fromthe football list too. Define apparently.

http://smartfootball.com/gameplanning/can-the-west-coast-offense-work-anywhere-besides-the-nfl

Because this guy is saying the EXACT same thing that I did about the West Cost Offense. Looks like a LOT of those people on there agree with me too. And probably some of those are coaches. Probably because they're not stupid *** rednecks like you and are capable of running something other than the wishbone.

I did say that AD wouldn't fit the spread. I was wrong about that. I'm glad Dan is good enough and creative enough to make it work. I'm willing to bet most coaches wouldn't have.

Never said the spread was a fad, or wouldn't work in the SEC though. You can ask Ronny. And you've brought that thread up SEVERAL times and even linked it and it's not in there, but you still believe that I said that. I can only assume that you are stupid. Your geography skills, or lack thereof, also back me up on the assumption of your stupidity.

Todd4State- 5/21/08- In response to Saddawg's comment that the Spread can take average players and make a good offense

relationship between those teams having people like Alex Smith, Tim Tebow, and Dennis Dixon among others running those offenses. Even if you run the spread offense, you still have to have people that can play. Look at West Virginia when Pat White went down. If we had Henig running the spread, he would still try to throw it 100 MPH in no general direction, our o-line still would be average, our receivers routes would still be crappy and they would still be inconsistent, and we would be taking our best RB, AD and trying to make him an outside runner rather than an inside runner for a good but of the time. And McCorvey/Croom would still be calling the plays.

I don't think the key for a school like State, or those others that you mentioned, is to try to out gimmick everyone, but to develop players. That is probably where we have failed on offense as much as anything. I think the conservative play calling is a product of having inconsistent players. Time may prove me wrong on this.
When you talk about the I formation being limited, that's just not true. You can run about as many plays out of the I as you can out of a spread formation. You can also be just as creative running the WCO vs the spread offense. It's up to the coach.

And don't get me wrong, I'm not against the spread offense. It's all about what the coach wants to do. I just don't think that we can just change offenses and necessarily be better overnight. Look at Ole Miss when they went to the spread the last couple of games. It worked for a little bit against LSU because they weren't expecting it, but then they lit us up for a grand total of 14 points. Why? Because of their coaching and talent.

You clearly referred to the Spread offense as a "gimmick"....your offensive knowledge in this thread is apparent- very limited

the guy who picks a ten team parlay, loses nine and comes on here to pimp your one win. Relf may have a stronger arm but the problem is the field is only 50 yards wide meaning most of his passes don't land in play. Hell most dont land in Starkville.

And for the record, you're both looking at this the wrong way - Coach is just closer to being right than Todd. It's about running an offense suited to your players and getting the best out of them. Up to the coach to do that, whether it's spread (usually used for less talented teams - that's why it works for us), wishbone, whatever.

On one simple point- he and I disagreed- which player's arm is stronger? Obviously its Relf, and shocking he would say different.

Why do you guys insist on adding the accuracy comments and the rest? ****, it's common knowledge Relf isnt very accurate. It's common knowledge Russell is going to be a better passing QB than Relf ever will. I havent seen anyone dispute that.

We are simply talking arm strength- which Relf's is clearly better. That is in no way a knock on Russell or belittling him in any way. Relf's arm is strong as ****- he just doesnt know what to do with it.

Maybe Todd meant Jamarcus Russell and I just missed it.

I was saying that if we ran a bunch of gimmick plays out of whatever offense- be it spread or west coast offense, it wasn't going to make us better. And judging by our myriad of trick plays have gone wrong the past two years, I would say I'm correct. Remember the two jump passes that completely failed? Remember the halfback pass from Perkins against Georgia that got picked? Because remember what we were doing was "boring" and "uncreative"? People knew what was coming. Fact is those players could barely run a counter play. I was saying that our coaches were being conservative for a reason. That reason being we had no talent.

And you COMPLETELY gloss over the fact where I mentioned McCorvey and Croom calling the plays would not make us running the spread better than what we were doing and the fact that we have to have good players to run a successful offense. AND IT'S RIGHT THERE IN FRONT OF YOUR DUMB17 FACE. I was saying the coaches that we had were not going to make us better regardless because they sucked as coaches. Unless you were somehow expecting Woody McCorvey to become a great play caller overnight, and I know that wasn't the case.

Well, let's look at us now- we're as one dimensional as ever. Why? Because our QB with an alleged cannon can't make a 17 screen pass. We have Chad Bumphis- a great WR. Can barely get him the ball. Our offense will not take off until we get a QB that can pass the ball, an o-line that can pass protect, and better WR's. I think we have the backs. Our offense right now is Relf and Ballard for the most part. How has running the spread made Relf a better passer? It hasn't.

Our offense will get better- but it's not because we're running the spread. It's because we're recruiting better players. It's because we're developing our QB's, and we're developing o-linemen, we're bringing in good WR's. It's because we have competent people running the show.

Is our offense better- absolutely. Why? Because we have better coaches (NOT McCorvey as I mentioned) and now we are about to get better players. Once we do that- we can run all the gimmick plays we want.

But that said- let's go back to the original topic- Yes, starting a poll in hopes that you can get a bunch of people to agree with you so that you can rub it in my face to say that "I'm right!" is a ***** move. So, yes, you are a *****.
