I figured

we would swap w aTm. Yesterday was crazy in the top 10. I wouldn't be surprised if we were 5 in AP.

I've never liked the coaches poll. I assume they base a lot of their choices off of raw score and little else. They Shirley don't have time to watch games.

Most of the coaches delegate their vote to the Sports Information Department. Seriously, they don't have time to mess with that stuff. If the coach gets involved at all, its towards the end of the season.

I really don't care about the polls at all this year, since the Committee of 13 is going to release its own Top 25 at the end of this month. But I really, really don't know why we have a coaches poll this year. The schools have agreed to crown the champion on the field, so why are the coaches even voicing an opinion in the matter?

Speaking of the committee... Archie could be out in a tough spot if MSU and OM are close at the end

My understanding is if "your" school is being discussed

The committee member can't participate in that discussion. Not sur exactly how that works but seems I read that

I always thought the concept of a "Coaches Poll" to be a little biased and dumb. The AP poll is made up of sports writers who actually watch and cover most of the games. The Coaches Poll on the other hand is comprised of a bunch of biased coaches or athletic departments who, of course, are going to vote for their own teams or teams from their own conference.

Devil's advocate, but coaches know a lot more about football than sports writers. And clearly sports writers can and are biased in some instances.

Of course coaches know a lot more about football than writers. But coaches don't know **** about teams in other conferences that aren't on their schedule or they haven't played in the last year or so. You think they have time to sit around watching games from around the country?

so sports writers are more honest than coaches. got it.

I don't prefer one poll over the other. I'm just saying both have their merits and both have their negatives.

most coaches delegate the voting to some grad assistant. don't have time to do it themselves.

If we and the bears end up close, in what tough spot do you think Archie is in? He'd check the box quick like the lead was bout to run out the pencil.

If we're close, he'll pick the Egg Bowl winner and maybe the loser too.
