Ouch is right. I think this just goes to show how under-rated west coast baseball is, and also how over-rated this year's team is. Truth be told, we should be scheduling quality west coast teams for a four game series season. I still think we have a good squad though. Good enough to make it to Omaha in fact.... But these three losses hurt bad. Real bad.... Hopefully we avoid the sweep tomorrow and use these three losses as motivation to work that much harder. Hopefully this weekend will benefit us the same way Central Arkansas did last season.
I'm with you on this. I still like our team but it seems we never play good out west. I think our sec schedule sets up favorably for us to make a run
What exactly do you like about this team? Honest question bc I can't think of one thing myself. This team doesn't field well, hit, or pitch against quality teams.
We should've seen this coming after losing girodo, Adam, renfroe, and graveman. We thought we could just replace them and not miss a beat. Well we couldn't. We suck and it will take a whole lot of work to get even close to last year's club.
What I like:
1. Experience: The players on this team know what it takes to make it to the CWS Finals
2. Coaching: John Cohen is one of the nations best coaches. He will get us turned around
3. Talent: This team is loaded with talent. They just aren't playing up to their potential right now
4. Time: We still have a ton of games left to play. The issue of hosting a regional has by no means been settled yet.
5. Timing: The hottest (not the best) teams usually win the CWS. Even if we were 18-0 right now, it doesn't really matter unless you keep streaking at the right time (post season). So I'm hoping we are going to put it all together when it really counts.
Funny. I've been comparing this team to the 2010 team since Holy Cross. The similarities are all too real, unfortunately. Kinda mind-boggling how a team that returned 95% of its players from a National runner-up team could be this bad. We apparently lost the heart of our team with Renfroe, Frazier & both catchers leaving - who'd have thought it would be thus bad. We gotta loooong way to go to get back to CWS competing type material.

Can we be good? Maybe, but I'm not sold. A dominant starter emerging would be a great starting point
Cohen's game management is one of the worst I seen during his career at State.Repeatedly bunting with Rea on base is just incompetence.
Yeah 3 NCAA Regional appearances, 2 Super Regional appearances, a SEC Tourney Title, and a CWS Finals appearance are sure signs of an incompetent college baseball coach.
