Tim Washington(#250) is our sole commit right now. We have ties with Fletcher Adams(#145), DT from Brandon. His brother is on the team. Javon Patterson(#62), G out of Petal. One of his best friends is fellow 4 star WR commit Jesse Jackson for this years class. Dontae Jones(#296), WR from Louisville. He's just down the road. The big, physical 6-5 WR we need. He's right down the road. That's 4 of the 7 we should probably get IMO and the biggest gets.

Others:
Malik Dear(#56), RB from Murrah; He actually named us as a leader and said we are recruiting him the hardest. Came as a huge shocker, so I'm not putting much stock into it.
Jamal Peters(#31), S from Bassfield; TSUN currently has two players from there committed.
Willie Hibbler(#236), WR from North Panola; Don't know anything about him, but he's not far from Oxpatch and is currently committed to them.

There seems to be some elite talent in the state this year. There seems to be a lot of good players that aren't in the ESPN 300 right now as well. We have a great shot at having a good class next year. That would make 4 great classes in a row.

I know Javon personally and I don't think he'll pick state. For some reason or another, he's always been an Ole Miss fan. With that said though, it's not guaranteed they'll get him either. I'd like it personally if he came up to Starkville but I don't really see that happening.

It's still 2013...

In the recruiting schedule it is already 2014. Plus, around 60% of the major 2015 talent will have made their decision by the end of April. That number rises to 80% by the end of July. These next 5 months are very important for recruiting.

For the original post, I wouldn't call the last 4 recruiting classes - especially this one - "great".

Yeah it used to be that way. They made a huge turn in the past 2 years. Give it a look. I'd rate the services: 247, Scout, ESPN. Rivals is the POS. It's so far behind ESPN it's not even close. I can assure you, ESPN ain't no **** show anymore. They made a commitment to it a few years ago.

They we're pretty good man. Think about all the RS and True FR that are playing now. That means those classes were pretty good. Our RS SOs are good too...I think the past few classes have been good. We've average 25.8 last 5 years. And I mean Great by MSU's standards. Not having Russell and a team that fits Dan's mold offensively will help Dan not feel obligated to give the ball to players like Perkins bc they are seniors. I'm fine with every body on this team getting the ball right now moving forward. Especially the RB position. There's not a bad one he could give it to.

You're a joke. Go compare our current players with the rankings they gave them and show the ones that are blatantly wrong. You won't find many actually. It's greatly improved. Ppl who say STFU are for ppl who don't know what they are talking about. That's why you said it. Bc they rated Tyler Russell the #24 or 38 QB in his class that year. I'd say they weren't that far off actually. He wasn't ready to play till he was a Jr. full time.

Playing RS and True Frosh is not a persuasive argument. Players will improve with playingtime. That's how a 3-star player can go to JUCO and emerge as a 4 or 5 star talent. High 3- to 4-star talent has a higher ceiling than a high 2-star talent.

Nor does it make recruiting classes "great" or "pretty good". "Great by MSU's standards" is irrelevant. We'll quickly move to the basement if fans keep judging teams by MSU and not by SEC standards.

"Not having Russell and a team that fits Dan's mold offensively will help Dan not feel obligated to give the ball to players like Perkins bc they are seniors." That's exactly what happened this year. TR missed most of the year and nothing changed. The staff ruined LDP, they ruined TR, and underperformed on offense because they have tunnel-vision on offense - especially when it comes to in-game adjustments.

Dontae Jones is a huge Ole Miss lean as of right now. Outside of Dennis Thames, MSU has never fared well in Louisville. The "right down the road" logic doesn't work there

Going to set the all-time record for offense in a season for State, and it will be in the mid 450ish yards per game area. That and we were playing a bunch of RS and true FR because we had a lot of injuries and they were able to fill in for the injured guys with not a huge drop off is an idicator of successful recruiting. We had a top 10 SOS this year and that's what we did offensively with a young and promising QB. I think that says we've had some great classes. I didn't say elite and if you'll go back and look at what I have said, you'll agree. There are only 5-8 elite classes int he country. 9-25 are about the same with a few being better than others, then after that, other than classes ranked in 60+ range, coaching staffs have to go find guys. Those recruiting sites can't rank everyone. They evaluate on 5min worth of film. Our coaches evaluate from watching them play games live, and hours of the prospect's film. I'd take their opinion over the recruiting sites. I think we have about the 17th most talented team in the country by where we have recruited, developed, and teams I've watched and compared. I wrote a long thread about this. Go back and read it if you want. Our staff has deserved for us to take them at their word. Did you know Ole Miss has recruited more 2 stars than we have, and their's haven't done **** and some of our best players were two stars: Calhoun, Malone, Clayborn, Day, McKinney, Market...

Speaking of Louisville, I saw some of their highlights earlier in the year. They had a Sangster kid that looked like a man among boys. Is he an underclassman? And is he the one related to the Sangster that played at State (or was he one of the ones that went to Ole Miss?)? Getting old. Just remember they had several good ones in the 80's when Justice was there & seems like one went to State & a couple went to OM.

Dontea jones didn't really show me much. Just got done watching the game and he doesn't have the hands. May of been just a bad game but really didn't show me much.
