Yes. It’s funny I watch warmups with all these dudes… 7 are playing. Worse: only 2 are scoring

Crazy how quickly the tide turns. First half of the season I thought we were the deepest squad I could remember, and it wasn't just Mag at the time.

and yet had nothing to do with tonights loss

that is on Pike and his recruiting and many called this out last year and the year before

Pike recruited Mag, too, fwiw.

The players on the court absolutely should not have lost this game - but I think we'd have been more comfortably ahead with Mag on the court tonight, and even the late game meltdown wouldn't have resulted in a loss.

We obviously should have won tonight anyway

We would have won if Mag was healthy

Both are true
really because last year we lost at Minnesota with Geo Baker and Ron Harper and the team from this year minus Mag and they only had 6 schollie players so now all of sudden you declare we win with Mag

we didnt beat Seton Hall with Mag, were handled easily at home by Iowa with Mag

quite frankly RU could have blown the game with Mag

why dont we just stop play now because you are convinced that the team cannot or isnt expected to do ANYTHING without Mag

I posted somewhere else about our poor 2P% defense when we haven't been at our full rotation, too.

This team was balanced and the cogs all worked together well. Remove one of the cogs, and the machine sputters.

You can’t possibly think Mag being out had nothing to do with tonight’s loss.

Should have won, but that’s just crazy

really because I saw Caleb miss a 3 just like he did at osu and just like he did at psu but we held on in that one. Now all of sudden Mag is god here, we would never lose with him

hey we lost with Geo and Ron last year

1. Min y is worse this year than last year.

2. It most likely wouldn’t have been a must win if Mag wasn’t hurt.

3. The team kind of can’t do a lot of things anymore. The press is worse and the offense regularly struggled to break 60.

Depth is the Achilles heal of the team this season
Depth is a pretty important part of any team haha. This is such a weird thing you keep parroting. I just quickly checked the top 3 teams in standings on espn in the B1G, every one of those teams purdue, iowa and maryland played multiple games without starters

Michigan beat us without jett howard who is alot better than mawot. So again, its just a foolish point

I get you're pissed about the game, but discounting the absence of one of our starters while at the same time complaining about lack of bench depth doesn't make any sense.

It's not that Mag is a god here - it's that he's one tire of a car. You can talk about precision engineering and horsepower or whatever... but replace one tire with a donut, and your performance will suffer. Whether it was Mag or any of our other core players.

We are 16-7 with Mag, 2-5 without him

The 2 wins were both by a couple points

This team has serious depth issues. We just aren't as good when we aren't full strength. It's beyond obvious at this point. It is what it is

Paul needs to figure it out and he needs to do it immediately

Squeak into the tournament and hope the team gets hot is all I'm hoping for now. With Mag I had hopes for a deep tournament run. That seems very unlikely now, but you never know. Get hot at the right time and/or favorable matchups is still possible

This season is all about lack of quality depth, which has given us razor thin margins for error against competitive teams all season. When we've been down a starter against a good opponent - whether it's been Mulcahy, McConnell, or Mag - we haven't had quality backfill.

Hate to pick on the guy because he seems like a great teammate, but Reibers regression this season was a fatal blow. He’s getting taken to the woodshed by freshman.

There is no doubt...

TBH even if Mag didn't go down, I wonder if we'd be slumping a bit now. Simpson's minutes weren't huge before he went down. We were playing six guys a ton of minutes. His injury put even more pressure on the starters. People get furious when we see the Reiber/Woolf, Oskar, Simpson subs but these guys need rests somehow.

The good news is the problem SHOULD be going away in the coming years...
