yep top 48 teams is the cutoff then determine the 24 East and 24 West

There are 22 "normal" western teams in the top 48. With right now's RPI (9/24) Purnell Swett and Richmond would be West. There would need to be 4 more Western teams below 48 that would have to move up to push Grimsley to the East.

If Fayetteville area and Durham area are East, then 26 of the top 48 teams are Eastern teams. I do not see Grimsley going East.

Looking at the actual RPI numbers, the top 3 seeds seem like a lock but man the 4-8 seed positions will be an awesome finish! 0.039 is the difference between 4th and 8th!

As been said again the Hickory Ridge game will tell a lot. This is the only game they will play till the end of regular season because HR's record to help in the RPI's.

listen here, muh cuzzins, this is where that playoff math gets mighty interestin! purnell swett’s rpi could mean more than just gettin into the dance. If them western spots shake up, the whole bracket could look different. are we onto somethin here, or are we makin this harder than a two dollar steak?

The geography argument is worth watching, but remember.... the NCHSAA assigns qualifying teams East or West by longitude, then seeds by RPI. RPI weighs winning percentage (40%), opponents’ winning percentage (40%), and opponents’ opponents (20%). With only 0.039 separating seeds 4–8, one Friday night could change everything! Just my 2 cents.....

AL Brown jumped 2 teams to go from #7 to #5 in the West with the win against HR. As I stated before the Wonders have a hard time advancing in RPI with the weak conference. I stated also the a win against HR would help them in RPI because of HR schedule!
