yep top 48 teams is the cutoff then determine the 24 East and 24 WestLooking at the top RPIs. There’s a lot more western teams than Eastern. Looks like this could be the year Grimsley goes East. Would be very interesting
Page would go East before Grimsley. Pull up a map and take a look.Looking at the top RPIs. There’s a lot more western teams than Eastern. Looks like this could be the year Grimsley goes East. Would be very interesting
If Fayetteville area and Durham area are East, then 26 of the top 48 teams are Eastern teams. I do not see Grimsley going East.Looking at the top RPIs. There’s a lot more western teams than Eastern. Looks like this could be the year Grimsley goes East. Would be very interesting
As been said again the Hickory Ridge game will tell a lot. This is the only game they will play till the end of regular season because HR's record to help in the RPI's.Looking at the actual RPI numbers, the top 3 seeds seem like a lock but man the 4-8 seed positions will be an awesome finish! 0.039 is the difference between 4th and 8th!
Oh for sure! But I was talking about all of the teams, not just those two specifically. As been said again the Hickory Ridge game will tell a lot. This is the only game they will play till the end of regular season because HR's record to help in the RPI's.
Yes I understand! Was trying to express how hard it will be for the Wonders to lose or gain spots because of weak schedule.Oh for sure! But I was talking about all of the teams, not just those two specifically.
Gotcha! The weak schedule definitely hurts!Yes I understand! Was trying to express how hard it will be for the Wonders to lose or gain spots because of weak schedule.
The geography argument is worth watching, but remember.... the NCHSAA assigns qualifying teams East or West by longitude, then seeds by RPI. RPI weighs winning percentage (40%), opponents’ winning percentage (40%), and opponents’ opponents (20%). With only 0.039 separating seeds 4–8, one Friday night could change everything! Just my 2 cents.....Looking at the actual RPI numbers, the top 3 seeds seem like a lock but man the 4-8 seed positions will be an awesome finish! 0.039 is the difference between 4th and 8th!
Yep! Outside of the top 3, the 7a is wide openThe geography argument is worth watching, but remember.... the NCHSAA assigns qualifying teams East or West by longitude, then seeds by RPI. Conference games won't really impact OWP since they most offest (1 team wins and 1 team loses each week), would just come down to how non-conferences opponents finish outIt's possible but I doubt it. Grimsley plays Dudley (6-3) and Smith (1-7). Weddington plays Piedmont (3-5) so I don't see much movement in the RPI. I could be totally wrong though.
I have been saying this for two years!Conference games won't really impact OWP since they most offest (1 team wins and 1 team loses each week), would just come down to how non-conferences opponents finish out
I have MR jumping Kann after the last game. It is razor thin and may come down to OOWP.Looking ahead if playoffs started today AL Brown would
play the winner of #12 Butler and #21 Parkland week 2 of the playoffs.
I stated IF playoffs started today??????I have MR jumping Kann after the last game. It is razor thin and may come down to OOWP.
MR- .6835
Kann- .6799
Yes you did. We are far enough along in the season to get a very good look at how the RPI will end up. It is just some additional info.I stated IF playoffs started today??????
It would make scheduling much more difficult.Exactly… So I guess a follow up question to that is what is the point of even having conferences? If you finish first, other than bragging rights, it means nothing! No disrespect to Berry or Harding but we could replace them with better and way closer opponents.
As PC said, it would definitely make scheduling hard but I do think there could be some improvements to current conferences. All the split ones make no sense (especially the ones with three different divisions), but that's a consequence of having 8 divisions. As for the non-conference opponents impacting RPI, etc. there's a very fine line between scheduling "easy wins" to boost your own WP and playing better competition to actually help you later down the road. We fans don't control the schedule and you have to line up and play who's in front of you, but look at Apex Friendship in the East...yes they are undefeated, but their OWP is .424, with Lee County and Southern Lee being a combined 1-15. Not syaing they aren't a good team, but does that schedule prepare you for the top threats in the East? I guess we'll find outExactly… So I guess a follow up question to that is what is the point of even having conferences? If you finish first, other than bragging rights, it means nothing!
