How many MSU or UM coaches have ever been fired after winning the Egg Bowl? How many have been fired after losing it? I do agree that the overall record is more important, but you can bet the Egg Bowl is huge for any coach at either school who wants to keep his job.

I think they're basically saying "Look Dan, your expectations are 8+ wins this year. Lets not shy away from that if you fail to meet them at the end of the season".

How would they know? I don't think Mullen is going anywhere unless he does somthing big like win the SEC or something.

Whoa ...

I was never on that wagon, though there were a vast majority clamoring for that move.

may want to slow down a touch. And, I sure wouldn't equate a small vocal group on sports message boards with "vast majority" of Mississippi State football fans. That is just plain false.

Granted, there was a lot of frustrations with the way the season was going. We lost a last second heartbreaker to Auburn when nobody really knew how good they really were; we had a close game with LSU only to watch them score the last 31 points; and were lucky to escape both Bowling Green and Kentucky.

Those 'frustrations' spilled over on this and other boards.

Mullen is off the hot seat this year as long as he gets 6 wins. I was on the fire Mullen wagon last year, but the last 5 games bought him a few years. Plus, he go rid of some dead-weight this off-season. So, I expect things to continue to move in the right direction.

I wouldn't discount Hud ...

You had a good run Hud. For a few months there way back in September - November 2013 you were a hero to MSU fans, a True Maroon savior just biding your time, waiting to return and rescue them from their bumbling idiot of a head coach.

"What Hudspeth has done in Lafayette -- in making the most of what he inherited, then building the deepest, most athletic program in the Sun Belt in a short amount of time -- has been staggering."

If Terrance Broadway returns to form, and with what they have coming back ... they will be a dangerous team.

I agree. We have the best team in the last 20 years coming back. He should wreck **** in the west this year. If we don't then his *** needs to feel the heat.
