I just read where Baylor has approved to build a brand new on-campus stadium that seats 45K for $250 Mil, and I find it a bit odd that $80 Mil is only going to give State 6k more seats and a few new rooms. Is Stategetting ripped off or am I in the dark on a few expensive details? I figure for $80 Mil at least 10k seats could be added......

There are upgrades to existing areas and other scope items for future expansion.

They removing bleachers tha currently seat around 2000. So the construction will have around 8k general seating and also club level as well as suites. They are alos having to add more structural applications for future expansions. I think the totla build will be less than 80 million.

One other thing to take into consideration is that it is a lot less expensive to build things in Texas than MS. There is a ton of cheap labor.

Sort of like it being a better deal having a painter show up and paint your entire house at once vs small portions over time.

I thought the stadium expansion bid was opened last week and Anderson was the apparent low. I haven't heard the specific numbers but I thought is was awardable.

It is far from campus, it is small, parking sucks and it is worth building a new one on campus rather then up grading the old one. If this stadium was on campus up grade might be better.

my understanding is that essentially the entire outside facade of the stadium will be redone to a brick look. Stricklin is apparently calling it a transformation of the stadium. I'm sure that is not a cheap project to have done even though it will look great but won't get you one extra stadium seat.

I could easily see us going ahead with the facade around the stadium. The latest plans had left that part off, presumably for a cost saving... I could easily see us getting $80mil worth(what the IHL approved us for I believe) regardless of what all that entails...

Also, is this the first phase of more construction to come to DWS or will this be the only project they do for a while??

The gaps between our endzones are very wide, so it's a significant addition to the existing structure. Plus, the building will be decent size totaling thousands of square feet. It's a major proj and will be bad *** when done!

I wonder which alternates we will take. I would like to see us go ahead and brick the entire West side of the stadium if possible. It would really complete the project and make it look a lot better. I am not sure what additional cost that would add if the base bid is really $63M as stated above. I would hope we would go ahead and get $80M out of this project while we are doing it and have been approved for $80M.
