Sports related because State was the first team to play after 9/11 against South Cacky. and we've never really recovered from that.

Still get chills to the bone from that morning..about right now sitting in a classroom finishing a test when someone rushes in and told us the WTC had been hit.
Watching those towers FALL is an image I will never forget.. as I visited them when I was younger and believed nothing in this world could ever knock them down..

We Will Never Forget.

I was 8 blocks from the world trade center and watched everything take place. To see that up close put it in a whole different perspective. Simply an unreal lifechanging event.

That was my sophomore year at State. I had a 9:15 class and usually when I got up in the morning I would watch the news before class but for some reason I didnt that day. I got to class a little early and was sitting in my truck and all I could find on the radio was news and I had no idea why. It was a strange feeling and one I will never forget how the way things were in class. It was just total shock of what had gone on.

Never will I ever forget that day.

I walked into the Union after my 8:00 class. I had a break from 9:30-11:00. I usually went to eat between classes, but decided to go into the union and catch a nap over in the common area. A group of people were standing next to the TV over in the corner. I thought it might be a class, but then more and more people started watching. I walked over right when the second plane hit. I thought it was a movie at first. I didnt go to my 11:00 class (I think it got cancelled anyway). But I also remember the gas craze that struck later that day. You could not get into a gas station.

The SC game the following Thursday was surreal. I dont ever remember seeing a more sincere pregame and moment of silence. Amazing that one person could be heard so clearly.

almost came to tears this morning watching it all again. I still can't believe that day actually happened.

edited to add:

I found out about everything on genespage. Every news website in the world seemed to be shut down from all the traffic and I just sat there and watched people post things like the "tower just fell". I was like do what?...the tower fell, not literally, right?

I finally just went home to watch TV.

For all of the terrorist sympathizers out there, I'll bet you a c note that every single person that died eight years ago today would GLADLY take being waterboarded over being executed in cold blood. But no, bleeding hearts out there are much more concerned about the constitutional rights of these terrorists than they are with the fact that the 3,000 mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, sons, daugters, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends did not get to come home that day. If it takes waterboarding known terrorists to get good intelligence, then so be it. Last I checked, the constitution of the United States only protects United States citizens.

about what really happened that day. I imagine 10-15 years from no, it will be another day.

I had a 9:30 class that morning, My girlfriend (now wife) called me and said turn the TV on, a plane hit the WTC. I watched as everything unfolded. I was glued to the television and did not make it to class. In fact, I pretty much watched news until the early morning hours for days, even though they were just repeating things.

I was on the drill field taking some pics this morning and had 3 students stop and ask me why the flag was at half-staff. Sad how quickly we forget.

This very site mocks the events of December 7, 1941. Desensitization is inevitable.

I suppose 9/11 was our generation's moment. Compared to other events around the world, it wasn't that devastating. But it was definitely a shocking day for a nation like ours not used to tragedy and destruction on such a large scale. I'll never forget what happened that day, where I was, and how it made me feel. However, to those who were too young to remember or born since, it's just another page in the history books.

I was sitting at my desk at work when someone passed by my office and said "a plane just hit the World Trade Center." I thought to myself: "B.S." I quickly found the news on the internet and couldn't believe my eyes. I was watching live TV from the Conference Room at work when both towers fell. It's a day and feeling I'll never forget.

The most amazing thing, though, is that I was working towards an MBA at the University of Houston at the time. The next day, we had class. One of the students was from Iran. Her comment, during a break, was that "America got what it deserved." I can honestly say that that was the closest I've ever been to actually wanting to kill someone.

My prayers today are with the friends and families of the 2800 who lost their lives today.

I'll never forget and I'll make sure my kids never do either.

The media had a virtual ban on showing planes hitting buildings and/or people jumping from buildings. Granted, that **** was played on a loop. But seriously...24 hrs later it wasn't being shown anymore. Years later you see it occasionally. But we were way to quick to talk about tolerating the asshats who perp'd this than to remember WTF happened.

I was at ICC at the time. No class that day - still sleeping - when my bud called from Oklahoma and yelled in the phone "Dude, are you watching TV?!" I could tell that he was completely serious and for some reason I envisioned a UFO Mothership hovering over D.C. He told me what was going on and of course I didn't believe him until I saw it on all of the news channels.

I was in the National Guard at the time as well and it scared the **** out of me. Long story short, I ended up being deployed to Camp Warhorse in Baquba, Iraq. Good times.....yeah, good times. 223rd, BABY!!

(no CB9 you know I'm not a bleeding heart liberal but static beats Johnboy and Billy but I had to listen to something) when they broke in and said that a SMALL plane had hit the world trade center. I thought it was some dumb-*** private pilot or some dumb-*** tourist plane. Before I got to work, they said another plane had hit the second tower. You knew something was up then even without them saying it was airliners. I've had about an hour of sadness and 8 years minus 1 hour of pissed off since then!

I wish we would catch that son of a *****, horse whip him unconcious, dismember him and bury his remains facing west upside down wrapped in raw bacon!

I was holding short on a runway in Greenville, SC when the first plane hit. I remembered a B-25 hitting the Empire State Building during WWII and thought it was something like that, fog, et al. Then the 2nd one hit.

I was in an experimental Airborne Early Warning platform we were testing for the Customs service. Had a airborne radar, a whole rack of radios, had a frontrow seat to the whole thing. We offered to launch to support the intercepts on the other two hijackers, but it was all over by the time ATC transferred us to the defense folks. Watched the rest of it from the debriefing room.

A little "Did you know?" There was a four-ship of F-15's weapons-free and headed to shoot down the other two airliners, once they figured out it was deliberate. But they had launched out of Langley, were halfway to NY before being turned around to intercept over DC. They couldn't use burners, so had to stay subsonic (not enough gas, no tanker airborne) and obviously didn't get there before it was all over. If we'd had F-22's that day, they would've been there in time. I wonder what that would've been like to know that we shot down our own to keep them from the Pentagon...

Still pisses me off...
