QB- Tyler and Dak are both throwing very well. They are about even but if I had to pick one over the other, I take Tyler. We should feel fine with either on the field in the fall.

RB- Perkins looks really good. We have 4 solid backs. Robinson is built like a little bowling ball and he hauls ***. Griffin is big but I wonder about his speed and quickness. Milton had some nice runs today but fumbled late and got in the dog house with Coach Knox

WR/TE- I cannot explain how much better they look in practice as opposed to games last fall. They are literally catching everything thrown at them. Solid across the board. Both TE's are major threats in the passing game and B. Hill made a few big time grabs today. Very excited about this group

OL- Clausell looks better, I think he starts at LT the next 3 years. Siddoway is huge and he will probably beat out Damien Robinson at RT. Dillion Day is our best center no doubt. If Holley starts at C (been w/2's) it because our best 5 includes Day at G. We have much more depth than last year. It may not be great, game ready depth but we have bodies.

DL- As expected Boyd is the anchor. Virges, PJ Jones, and Cherrington all look to be solid options at the 2nd DT spot. The coaches are staying up Autry and Quay's asses non stop. I believe Autry will start and Quay will crack the rotation because the coaches are pushing both these guys very hard. Eulls looks solid at DE and all the backups look the part (tall, lean, athletic looking types).

LB- Lawerence, Skinner, Hughes, and McKinney. All 4 look solid and are making plays. Skinner is practicing out of his mind. He is making big hits all over the field. It really wouldn't surprise me if he progresses to be our best LB next year

CB- No worries here barring injury. As far as the backups Calhoun looks to be the up and comer

S- They looked much better today than last Tues. Watson and Hughes both made some nice plays today in scrimmage. Getting Nickoe back full strength is crucial here though.

Extra Notes- The rhythm of our passing game seems very dialed in. The QB's are throwing it well and the receivers are catching everything. I wonder if they trust each other more as a unit b/c they didn't just get way better over a few months. If our play calling this spring is any indication, we will run very little read option in the fall. Havent really seen it. Chris Wilson coaches his *** of the entire practice long. He teaches, disciplines, and motivates at a very high level of energy. We need to give him a raise and keep him as long as possible

Thanks for the info FreeDawg. We appreciate the notes.

1. You mentioned Calhoun at cornerback. J. Banks has said that he can be a lock-down corner. With Banks, Slay, and Broomfield graduating, let's hope so.

2. I agree about the OL bodies. We should be pretty damn good on the OL in 2013. I worry about 2012, but there is still plenty of time. We will have the bodies, just need the experience to catch up. I like that the schedule is soft on the front end to get these guys some game experience. The only seniors are Trapp and Hardy (neither contributes), and Tobias Smith (oft-injured).

3. You mentioned McKinney at LB. Everybody that goes to practice comes back talking about him. Hope he is a player.

4. From all I've heard Milton is the #4 guy and fumbling seems to be part of the reason. With Griffin, Perkins, and Robinson on the roster, Milton won't see the field if he can't hold onto the ball.

He went to Rosa Fort, so Im sure he didn't exactly get the best coaching in the world, but he has all the tools to be really good.

I know New Albany played them, and I asked one of their coaches how he was, and they said he had everything he needed but coaching. So, I think he'll be a really solid player down the line.

A lot of the smaller schools or financially-strapped schools struggle for good coaching. I remember Kaleb Eulls at Yazoo County. He got his *** handed to him by MRA because the guy really didn't know how to play. He kept standing straight up at the snap. We got him on campus with some coaching and we've got a heckuva player. Wilson and Collins will teach these linemen and linebackers how to play.

I's say our "big play" guy is Ladarious Perkins. He broke a pass play out of the backfield up the sideline for a long td today. Arceto Clark also turned a slant over the middle into a long gainer. I would say that Josh Robinson has big play ability with his speed. I feel like both are TE's are gonna make some big grabs for the long gainers over the middle. Malcolm Johnson and Brandon Hill have looked good so far. I think you will see a wide array of guys making big plays for a few reasons. We have a bunch of guys in the skills positions that are capable of making the big ones. Tyler doesnt favor 1 guy over another, he takes what is given to him. And I dont mean this in a bad way but we dont really have 1 guy that is so much better than everyone else that he would dictate the offense being run through him

The linebacker position battles could be interesting in the fall with the Browns coming in. You know Richie is coming here expecting to play. The question is who is he most likely to beat out?

Also, where will Redmond fit in?

I wouldnt be surprised if Richie breaks the 2 deep at LB and gets special teams work but I would say that Beni will probably RS (just guesses). Redmond could very well be in the mix at corner in the 2nd string if he lives up to the hype. He and Calhoun are our future at CB but Im not sure how much they help next year with 3 seniors at CB

He may be 1 of the guys in street clothes on the sideline. There is an injury "pit" that you can see Tobias and Muniz in doing drills but I havent seen Whitley there. I havent been at all the practices though

Thanks Free, It seems as though we are making progress in the program since we no longer need to depend freshman to start. After losing out on CJ, I was worried that our LB position may suffer for a few years, but it seems as though we have at least made up for missing out on him, and maybe even done better due to addition by subtraction.

Our O-line is the key. It is what killed us last year, and hopefully we can figure something out there this year.

Taveze Calhoun was in the pit today (from what i saw) with Muniz, Smith, and Gordon. I agree that Calhoun is one of our future starters at corner. I just hope he is ok and it is nothing serious. Also Dee Arrington was running first team safety today with Jay Hughes. If Whitley comes back healthy, I think Arrington should be the other starting safety. Matt Wells and Zach Jackson were playing at the nickel safety spot today. Malcolm Johnson continues to impress me. I think we are going to use our tight ends and running backs a lot more in the passing game this year. Perk and Robinson can bust a big play on any given touch. Clark also made some big catches today. Robert Johnson and Joe Morrow looked good on a drill working on fade routes against our CBs.

Calhoun was in it the pit but did some in drills. But I agree with your post. Good stuff

He may get some reps with the 2nd bunch and play special teams- but he wont be starting. We are pretty damn good at LB

you cant get carried away one way or another. If the offense is dominating then it means your defense sucks. If your defense dominates, then there is cause for concern on offense.

I would love to hear the reason why yalls offensive line cant even slow down an underwhelming defensive line. Or maybe talk about why Nicky B cant practice because he is working on his dissertation.

I think very reasonable expectations would be 30 TD's out of Relf running and throwing

Relf actually had 12 TDs last year.

Relf is going to score a minimum of 10 TD's running

Relf actually had 2 rushing TDs

Most OM fans didn't predict adisastrous2 win season during spring practice last year either. If someone were to dig for dumbass predictions/ quotes from NAFOOM spring practice threads, I bet they'd fine some **** that seems pretty funny in retrospect.
