QB- Both still throwing well. Tyler has really made the position battle not a battle. Tyler looked very comfortable in the 2 min drills at the end of practice.
RB- Perkins and Robinson both showed their stuff in the passing game today. Milton had some nice runs including a long td. Griffin had 1 drive where he carried it a lot of times back to back, churning out hard yards. If he can fully recover he can be a "work horse" type of back
WR/TE- Still catching well. I think I saw 2 drops today. Bumphis and Jameon had their best practices today making multiple grabs and Lewis had 1 long gainer. If you think Marcus Green was a good pass catching TE, prepare to be excited. It also seems that our outside recievers and slot guys are being used very differently, using the independent strengths that they have to their advantage. I know that seems obvious but the last 2 season they were used like they were the same type of interchangeable position.
OL- Clausell looks a little better every day. D Day and G Jackson are our best lineman and continue to impress. The remaing starters will probably come from this inexperienced mix: C Siddoway, D Robinson, J Malone, B Beckwith. They have all looked good. D Holley just doesnt look very big. I really dont see him starting unless we NEED to move Day to G but I dont feel confident in that happening.
DL- Curtis Virges has really put his stamp on the 2nd DT spot. We are in good shape with D Jones, PJ Jones, D Cherrington, and Quay. Quay still has a way to go but they are staying on him tough making me think the coaches need him too. I still dont see us getting good outside pressure with our DE's. The coaches are staying on Autry big time because he is our only viable threat to get an outisde pass rush right now.
LB- McKinney,Hughes, Cam, and Skinner all continue to impress, especially Skinner. He had 1 "kill the head" type shot today. Bohana also played very well today. We are going to be fine here
CB- The top 3 (Banks,Broomfield, and Slay) are all good, no need to worry about them. Today Jameson Love had his best practice. Looked really good and T Calhoun continues to show well. It was nice seeing the young guys at CB have a good day
S- Looks much better than the start of practice but all they could do was go up. J Hughes and D Arrington were the starters today. Hughes looks much better and Arrington had a couple big hits. Watson had a decent day as well. I'll end this the same way though, we must get Nickoe back 100%
K/P- They were both booting it today. On kickoff drills Egan was consistently putting out the back of the endzone (he did have a wind at his back). All the field goal attempts were accurate with the missed ones being lined up but just short kicks on the long attempts
Extra notes- Very long scrimmage today. 70 snaps for the 1rst and 2nd strings. Biggest crowd I've seen out there as well. When you look at our roster you can really see the depth Mullen is building though recruiting and redshirting. Our 2 teamers may not have expereince but they look like quality football players. Our 2nd string is no longer littered with the bad news bears types. Also, the Kentucky womens tennis team is hot
