That is our major problem. A lineman from A&M catches our wide receiver from behind when he is running full out. We have no speed anywhere. We had no chance of containing Manziel or Patterson or anyone with speed. We are even slow in getting out of the huddle. We are down all those points and we had no sense of urgency when we started to move the ball.
Next, Tyler Russell is the best throwing QB MSU has ever had. I have watched Bama twice now and the only way to move the ball against them is to PASS. That is when LSU moved it and that is when we moved it. That is when we moved it against A&M. Our game plan should be something from the Patriots playbook. It should be 80% passing. There should be alot of short 3 and 5 step drops and ball distribution. Short crossing routes. Run the ball as a change up. The balanced **** needs to go away when you play a team like, Bama, A&M and LSU. Tyler Russell has done a very good job of sustaining drives with passing when he gets it out of his hands quickly.
Did any coaches watch game film of A&M? It sure did not look like it. The first half looked like we had no idea what their offense was like.
Overall, we need to drop some of "the sister's of the poor" games. You need to play better talent in the non conference games to better prepare you for the SEC west. One warmup game and that should be it.
But maybe that is our only path to Bowls. Maybe we can't ever get enough talent to truly compete. If that is reality, then why bother.
