If Ohio State beats Alabama, they won't. Bama has played a relatively weak schedule this year. The SEC is down big time and is living off of their success now. That being said, I may hate Alabama but I have mad respect for Saban.
Was the Big 12 tougher than the SEC? I was too young, just wondering.

Come to your own conclusion:

1995 Nebraska beat:
@ #10 Colorado 44-21 [finished #4]
#8 Kansas State 49-25 [finished #6]
@ #10 Kansas 41-3 [finished #10]

The above happened in 3 of 4 weekends, with only 7 conference games total.

Side note, the above is why so many of us laugh when Iowa fans, or B1G fans in general, mock the Big 8 as if it was always a terrible conference.

I don't care what computerized criteria they want to use-Alabama had to stage a big comeback to beat a 5-7 Mississippi team by 5 points. That does not fit the greatest team of all time. 95 Nebraska did not have any games closer than 2 TDs against anybody.
What was the record of the teams played in 95? How does that compare to the tides competition?

Played these teams back to back to back weeks. Also beat Oklahoma that year as well.

Their "D" is ridiculously good.. they will be in discussions for sure if they win out against 2 quality opponents. If they win convincingly, game over

Nebraska went 60-3 with 3NC's over 5 years
Alabama 61-6 last 5 years 2NC (2016 TBD)
97-10 over last 8 years with 4NC's, could be 5NC

They still won't be mentioned over time with Nebraska. Alabama is filthy on defense, but nothing special on offense. Nebraska always trumps these other teams because they were absolutely devastating on both sides of the ball. In all honesty they probably had the best offense and defense in the country that year. While the offense may be the best ever.

For reference, Alabama has beaten:
#11 ranked USC 52-6
#22 ranked Tennessee 49-10
#14 ranked Auburn 30-12
#21 ranked LSU 10-0
Still a game against #15 ranked Florida and then the playoff. Nebraska obviously dismantled 2nd ranked Florida in the championship game.

I do think it's ridiculous that Tennessee and LSU are ranked. Auburn shouldn't be that high either.

Oklahoma was 5-5-1 in 1995 and Nebraska's OOC schedule was laughable. It was definitely a different era with fewer games and there is more football for Alabama to play. It's a discussion none the less.

Every game Nebraska played was laughable. Try a little harder next time. These guys completely roasted 4 top 10 teams that year (final poll), and one went on to win the title the very next year.

Nebraska's OOC schedule was laughable.

2 of 4 opponents with winnings records, I wouldn't call that laughable. Pretty harsh to say such a thing.

Arizona State lost 5 games in 1995; 4 of them to top 25 teams. By no means were they a great team, but they weren't bad. They also beat 2 top 25 teams.

Michigan State, 6-5 and a #5 finish in the B1G. Ahead of Iowa. Sparty also beat 2 top 15 ranked conference opponents.

Washington State & Pacific, ya they stunk.

6-6 MAC team, 3-9 Big 12 team, and a FCS opponent is what many people would say is laughable.

A "laughable" OOC? Nebraska played
--Saban-led Michigan State on the road (a bowl team) and won 55-10 with their backup Quarterback after Frazier bruised his thigh;
--Arizona State which was won 77-28 (the game that Bruce Snyder refused to shake Osborne's hand because he felt Nebraska ran up the score), a team that beat both #10 Oregon and #22 UCLA that year;
-- Washington State which was defeated 35-21 (a Pac 10 team); and
--Pacific (won 49-7).

Only Pacific out of those opponents could be considered laughable and 3 out of 4 were Power 5 teams. Conversely for its OOC, 2016 Alabama has played 1 Power 5 conference team and 3 "laughable" opponents:
-- #20 USC (and defeated them handily 59-6)
-- Western Kentucky (and won 38-10)
--Kent State (and won 48-0)
--Chattanooga (and won 31-3)
If we are going to compare the teams based upon the OOC Schedules that they played, Nebraska's 1995 OOC was far superior to 2016 Alabama.

Arizona State was a year away from playing for the national championship in 1996. They went undefeated and had they not had the close loss to Ohio State in the Rose, would have won it. So there was plenty of talent on that 1995 team.

You don't compare just OOC or just conference games or just bowl games. There is no doubt Nebraska made those games laughable by absolutely demolishing them. 15-18-1 was the record of the three power 5 conference teams on the OOC schedule that season. Try and break it down how you want, but that was a weak OOC schedule. But it was a schedule that it pry didn't matter who Nebraska played.

Alabama had an even weaker OOC schedule this year. Why is it that the SEC always gets a pass on their weak OOC schedules? Hell, Iowa played 2 power five teams last year and all anyone could talk about was how apparently they didn't schedule anyone. Kind of odd that Bama gets a pass this year.

Again, it's not about a certain section of a schedule so Alabama still has work to do, but it's not an open and closed discussion unless Bama loses. Which I hope they do.

I think Nebraska was fortunate that 94-97 happen to coincide with Oklahoma being absolute garbage those years. A normal 10-2 or 11-1 Oklahoma team could of pulled an upset in one of those years.

Just saw on OWH that if Alabama wins out they will be ranked as the greatest team of all time.

Hooray.

No way. Alabama has a good team, but the SEC is weaker this season than I have seen that conference in a decade. The Big 10 is head and shoulders above the SEC this season, and I'd even consider both the ACC and Pac-12 better top to bottom. They beat a USC team that was still finding QB early in the year, and the game was actually competitive for a while. That game would be much closer now. Alabama is good enough to win the championship, but I won't be surprised if they get knocked out in the first round of the playoff.

The Big Ten is top heavy. There are 4 good teams, then a drop off to Nebraska and Iowa. Below that I don't know that I would say there is a good team in the bottom 8.

Best thing to do is rank each league 1-14, then match up 1-1, 2-2 etc. the SEC is down this year, especially at the top, but there are still some decent teams at the bottom.

I think the B1G is best, but SEC is second for sure.

The $EC is a joke this year. Every team with the exception of Bama and Florida has 4 or more losses and Florida is sitting at 3.

Bama is the best team in a year with no dominate teams. Bama themselves have been anything but dominant. They looked pedestrian against Western Kentucky, needed last minute heroics against a 7 loss Ole Miss team, gave up 500 yards to Arkansas and Ole Miss, and were held scoreless for more than 3 quarters against LSU and only mustered 10 points.
There is NOTHING special or dominate about this years Alabama team.
Alabama has been *ONE* thing under Saban, consistent. Not a single team however should even be mentioned as "greatest of all time", not yet anyway.
