Northwestern was actually a home underdog to UTEP. Glad to see that they have some pride.

I saw UTEP at Army a few years back
They had a huge OL with a back like a SubZero.
I thought "he'll be in NFL pretty soon."
Sure enough the Giants drafted him - it was Will Hernandez.

UTEP is the southhern most D1 program its close to Rio Grande River and the border.
Its so far away its hard to get players to go there - hence a reason they struggle

Miami, FIU, FAU are more South than UTEP. But yes it’s hard to get to El Paso. Wait until Texas- Rio Grande Valley start FCS ball in a couple of years. It’sa couple of hours South of Corpus Christi, let alone Houston, San Antonio, and the other big Texas cities.

Its been awhile but I read something about UTEP's remote location makes it unique - maybe its the closest D1 stadium to the border (9 miles). The students at UTEP are 84% Hispanic. El Paso is only TX city on Mountain time - its hot. UTEP is a litle harder to recruit to

UTEP is a 12 hour drive from Houston, which means it is probably a 9 hour drive from San Antonio. I once drove from Los Angeles straight through to Houston and it was a 24 hour drive ... El Paso was the halfway mark.

Not true. There are quite a few schools in Texas that are south of El Paso latitude wise. If you want to say it's in the most out of the way place I agree.
Of course the most out of the way and by far the southernmost D1 program is University of Hawaii
Yes. For instance, Austin, the home of the University of Texas, is actually further south. The cities of Houston and San Antonio are also further south.

UTEP is terrible every year
They make Hawaii look like LSU

That seems like an exaggeration. They were 5-7 last year with a bunch of close losses. They beat a 10 win Boise team.

Now I’m not saying UTEP is anything special, but they are probably a middle ground Gr 5 team.

Oh no, I agree that El Paso is hell to get to and has other issues that most schools don’t have to worry about. But it could be worse like going to UTRGV makes a trip to North Dakota look like a ride on the subway. I mean I’ve been to Corpus and the border is STILL three hours south of there.

Corpus Christi was on my list of possible retirement locations.

You may want to brush up on geography. There is no part of Florida that is north of El Paso, for example.

Meh, try driving from LA to Honolulu to watch a Rainbow Warriors game.

I guess you missed Mayor Adam’s speech last week ? The man sounded quite upset in the news conference. So what he said jokingly earlier doesn’t really sound to be to far inaccurate.

That was a good year for them but UTEP plays weak teams compared to Hawaii.
UTEP lost to Rice, N Texas and Louisiana Tech who are also very lame most years.
I was born into an Army family and had little choice but to see a lot of these teams play a lot
I've seen Hawaii 3x too and they were fun when they were doing hakas before games

YOU mentioned the border.. incorrectly being ?3 hours" south of Corpus, BTW. It's 100 miles.. how is that 3 hours?

Anyway.. you brought up the border and someone responded about what a Democrat said the border was. You are way too sensitive. Why is that?

It’s not and I lived in South Texas for awhile…
Good for you. 🍪🍪🍪

I’m sorry I’m not the perfect 🤬🤬🤬 as you two since I was only down there once to see relatives can’t remember minute details. Google Maps says it’s 2 and a half hours to Brownsville/ the border/ whatever. Congrats on being perfect douches, esp brining up a stupid NYC comment that had nothing to do with the topic at hand.

But hey, here you two are, along with the bigger 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 lurking around every post I’m on.

You jump all over a guy making a comment on current events when you mentioned "border". But it is the people who tell you that you were wrong.. they are the douches.

You have issues. Why is this so personal to you?

He does have issues starting with always trying to think he’s right . He still thinks it’s fall of 2020 and what people saw really wasn’t happening.
