I do agree that Manziel knew the rules and he has to accept the consequences. But if I had a chance to make 25K by signing my name, I would do it and hope I don't get caught. It's not like he was slinging crack rock.

The point is if he thought he could get by with that he would probably do that also. That is what is wrong with the world. Rules only apply if you don't get caught.

If he were poor

It would still be unacceptable. Him being rich doesn't make it more unacceptable, it just shows a bit more about his character. His parents are rich, and in a year or two he will be filthy rich. There is nothing to gain and everything to lose by breaking the rules in this fashion.

So why did he do it? Ego. Manziel has failed to keep his success from getting to his head. He feels invincible.

To be clear, if we we are going to be fair, we couldnt even field 22 starters. Every football player has been bought a drink at the bar, etc.

Who cares?

Actually, you sign a contract with the state at the courthouse. Whether you choose to have a wedding ceremony in a church and give oaths is up to you.

Doesnt matter. NCAA is on the way out and then it will get interesting.

Would you still do it knowing that by taking those $25,000 or so you would be jeopardizing your college football season and potentially cost yourself 20+ times that much in the NFL draft by not playing your last college season? Incredibly stupid thing for him to do.
