He was saying that we have not had legal problems with players and we have not had players publicly embarrass the University like what happened at Tennessee and Arkansas the last couple of years. He was not talking about transfers and losing to crappy teams.
</p>
Ro-bert Jack-son was kick-ed off th-e team. He was such a cancer that the team thew him off.
Gary Ervin caused a huge to do when he demanded to transfer in conference and division. He was a distraction to the team as a sophmore and this made national news.
Walter Sharpe was a MASSIVE distraction to the team and was tossed off it. Oh, and HE WAS SHOT. Remember? We were CONSTANTLY included in those national reports.
Rhodes was taped having breakfast with a woman that gets paid to take it every which way. This was reported nationally.
Turner was busted for intoxication a couple years ago.
These are all problems that we have had that were documented on a national level. And since you dont want to, this isnt even addressing the constant stream of problems our team has had due to starters and strong rotation players leaving every year over the last half decade.
Jeez....what part of "no legal troubles or national embarrassments" did you miss? Those are the problems that he was addressing in that quote. Having players transfer and kicking players off occasionally is not national news. And exactly how was Stansbury supposed to keep Walter Sharpe from getting shot AFTER he was kicked off the team?
Stansbury's problems are 1) Having too many transfers 2) Losing to bad RPI teams 3) Not doing well in the NCAA tournament 4) Being a terrible offensive coach. Period. These are coaching problems and not image problems. The image problem started last week in Hawaii and has not been going on for 13 years. Nationally no one gave two ***** about Rhodes' breakfast dateor Robert Jackson getting punted off the team. They were big deals to us because we are State fans but no one else cared unlike this Sidney situation.
Since we are on the subject of awesome comments from Stans...
<span style="font-weight: bold;">"And if people don’t do right in our program, then we’ll hold them accountable.”</span>
********. I lost count at 73 when i tried to remember all the times his actions conflict with this comment. Oh, and i only made it up to about 2007 before i stopped. Lets not even begin to count all the **** since then that refutes this comment.
<br style="font-weight: bold;"><span style="font-weight: bold;">"He gives us that one thing we don't have: our leader."</span>- speaking about Bost.
What the F? He thinks Bost is our leader? ****! Bost is a tempermental bipolar sneering immature player...at best. He has more talent than our entire bench in his pinky, but he is no leader. He flat out IGNORES Stans, yet he is our leader. ****. First we have a captain that has apparently had an attitude for a couple years now and fights teammates, and now Bost is our missing leader. Bost has yet to lead. And he is coming off a situation THAT DIRECTLY REFUTES THE QUOTE BY STANS ABOVE WHERE HE TALKS ABOUT ACCOUNTABILITY!
But he is our leader.
<span style="font-weight: bold;">"The Diamond Head Classic was put together a few years ago. The Bahamas
part we put together in May or June, not knowing we wouldn't have Dee."
</span>Of course they didnt know they wouldnt have him...but they did know
there was a VERY strong chance they wouldnt have him. They seriously
planned the Bahamas trip with Bost in mind? Dumbasses.
I agree Stans couldnt have kept Sharpe for being shot. My point was that all those examples show there are a TON of issues in the program. Yes, they arent making national headlines like players from other teams who drive drunk down an interstate the wrong way(Seton Hall) or get in fights with the football team((Kansas)thank god they dont, since they arent nearly tough enough).
But what Stans considers to be problems arent anywhere close to setting the bar high enough. He has many issues in the program and it has been this way for years.
Sure, ill give him credit, he recruits choir boys.
I know a lot...almost all...of this was a tangent or really just totally random off the subject, but **** this is just too much!
His quotes from that article are just brutally innaccurate at best and lying at worst.
