A little bowl game scoop

I know a guy on the Liberty Bowl committee and he just called and asked if I needed him to get me tickets. I asked if we were a done deal to the LB and he said not 100% but they were on the phone with MSU people yesterday and it looks like we are LB bound. He said there are still some politics to work out with Vandy having the better record but they do not want Vandy at all and want MSU. I was told it is a safe bet to go ahead with the LB ticket purchase as they are confident they win out and get State.

Just relaying what I've been told from a solid source

I just had a text from my "in the know" Vandy friend. It went along the lines of "GD!!! 17 you and the dawgs, you leap forgged us in the bowl again, 17 YOU!"

Us to Memphis, the Dores to Bham.

I'll take it.

Pretty consistent with what I've been hearing too.

It's basically this: The LB wants MSU, but the SEC might make them take Vandy.

Vandy would have to pretty much agree to go to Birmingham. The payout is basically the same. The prestige is really the only difference, which isn't much if any.

One game difference in SEC standings. 2 game overall difference. Which is the one they look at?

There has been quite a bit of discussion rather or not the '2 game rule' is even a rule.

I'm hearing very much the same thing but any bowl would be stupid to take vandy over us. We sold out their stadium 6 years ago... Vandy would make it look no better than a high school playoff game.

What if the SEC decides to resolve this Vandy delima by sending them to the Gator bowl and UGA to Nashville? They have the same record at 8-4, but Vandy did win head to head against uga in October.

I'm sure the Gator Bowl would raise some major objections to this - but just a thought.

Then we go to Liberty and OM back to Birmingham ... which would be outstanding.

I doubt Gator gets screwed again. They got screwed last year by being forced to take us. It is some other bowls turn to get screwed.

Bowls absolutely hate getting the same team two years in a row or really close in years.
