Retread. Couldn’t get an on field job since we fired him 2 years ago.

Zero Div I coaching experience & only 1 year at Div II.

these hires msg turn out great. But SEC isn’t a good learning ground for a JUCO/HS coach. My take is, not surprisingly, Lebby is having to go to the 3rd & 4th tier to find coaches willing to work for him.

Can you see a scenario where Arnett is HC again ? power Run game ?

The new guy isn't a positional coach. Pretty sure he's going to be an analyst or QC guy.

Wasn't Arnett hired by Mullen before he quit?

The DB coach is an assistant DB coach. Not the main guy.

Absolutely. Arnett is 39 years old. If he is successful at coordinator for a P4 school, there will be more opportunities at the G5 and if he is successful long enough, P4 level. I don't think failing in the scenario he was in will hurt him at all. He'll have a good story to tell about all the mistakes he made and why it didn't work out. Hell, it will probably be seen as a positive if he's being compared to other coordinators with zero head coaching experience.

Everyone on here loved Arnett as our DC. The ones who couldn't stand Leach and constantly talked schitt about him said Arnett was the reason we were winning games and carrying the team. But now, just two years later, he's a cheap hire and nobody else wants him? Come on. Yes, as a head coach he was a disaster. Some of that was his own making, some of it wasn't. But the guy has always been a good defensive coordinator.

If he had promoted JR, kept the Air Raid and said eventually we are getting away from it he probably would have won a lot of games and possibly still be our coach. Hell his 18 starters back from an eight-win team that finished in the top 20. He was set for at least one year and just threw it away.

I think if you did talent level vs production, arnett1 was the most productive dc we have had in the modern era. Pretty sure I’ve got a post here from when he left for ole miss as an analyst stating the obvious that’s now come full circle. Depending on how the portal treats us, he will have more talent next year than any of the team he previously coached here that were all above average. Still a far cry from Mullen/Moorhead’s d talent, but at least pointed in the right direction.

And the idiots clapped like seals as he did it.
